Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following is not a newly available level 8 monster?

Answer: Supreme Behemoth

The new level 8 monster from the Stronghold town is called a Ghost Behemoth. Its special abilities include +1 Luck to allies in battle, ignores enemy's defense and flight to name only a few.
2. How many hit points does an Emissary have?

Answer: 2000

There are four Emissaries: Emissary of War, Emissary of Peace, Emissary of Mana, and Emissary of Lore. Each week an Emissary is contained within a hero's army, that hero will receive a skill bonus. A hero can only have 1 type of Emissary in his army at a time.

The skill associated with the Emissary in the army will increase by 1 to 3 points. War increases Attack skill, Peace increases Defense skill, Mana increases Magic Power skill, and Lore increases Knowledge skill. Note, however, that if a hero loses the Emissary, either by choice or because the Emissary is killed in combat, all accumulated bonuses are lost.
3. One of the significant changes wrought by the Wake of Gods mod is the creation of Commanders. Commanders are your hero's representative on the battlefield and they can fight in the same way the monsters in your hero's army can fight. How much gold does it cost to recruit a new Commander?

Answer: 1000

Commanders have skills in the same way that heroes have skills. These skills can improve with use. Commanders also can cast magic spells during combat, can carry artifacts to improve their effectiveness, gain experience from successful battles and can be resurrected at one of your towns if the Commander dies in battle.
4. Another new feature of "In the Wake of Gods" is the ability of monsters to gain experience from battle and to increase in rank as the experience accumulates. This applies only to monsters in a hero's army, not wandering monsters. What is the highest rank a monster can achieve?

Answer: 10

Armies gain new skills and improve existing skills as they advance in rank. It is very important to investigate the army you have and the army you are facing. Some hand-to-hand combat unit may now be able to fire missile weapons due to its advance in rank. Additionally, you might be surprised to discover that each monster in a stack has 75 Hit Points instead of the 50 Hit Points you expected each to have.
5. Towns can be destroyed and rebuilt by visiting heroes?

Answer: True

Once a town is destroyed, the town is locked for 6 days and ghosts rule the town. After the 6th day, a hero can return and hire the ghosts to join his army. Once this is accomplished, he can begin to rebuild the town.
6. Back to the Emissaries . . . which of the following is not a dwelling you can recruit an Emissary from?

Answer: Library of Learning

The dwelling for the Emissary of Lore is called the Library of Legends. Because Emissaries are representative of the Gods, they cannot be directly involved in human battles. Therefore, when combat involves an Emissary, he must merely defend himself and cannot attack. Assisting the Emissary in surviving is his immunity to all magic spells.
7. Which level 8 monster (at rank 0) has the most hit points of the choices listed below?

Answer: Lord of Thunder

Level 8 monsters can be recruited in two ways:
1) They live in dwellings like other monsters. If you find a level 8 dwelling and can defeat the monsters who live within it, you can recruit one level 8 monster from the dwelling. Future visits to this dwelling will not yield a new level 8 monster for you to recruit; and
2) Once you have recruited the monster from a level 8 dwelling, each week, another level 8 monster of the same type will be available in your towns if:
a) you have the correct town type, and
b) you have an upgraded level 7 dwelling already built in that town.
8. What is the name of the new creature that can be created by merging Centaur Captains with Grand Elves?

Answer: Sylvan Centaur

Sylvan Centaurs shoot twice per turn, do more basic damage than either a Centaur Captain or Grand Elf, and have the Mirth spell automatically cast upon them when they enter a battle. They can also be recruited from a neutral dwelling called a Sylvan Homestead.
9. Each town type produces a different type of Commander to join your hero and army. Which of the following is not an eligible Commander?

Answer: Dragon Lord

Each Commander begins with a skill and a spell that he/she can cast. Each Commander of the same town type, i.e., any Paladin (from a Castle), has the same skill and spell as any other starting Paladin. For the Paladin, the skill is that the Paladin receives 150% of the experience earned by a hero. The Paladin also starts with the Cure spell.
10. One hero has a new specialty skill, "Builder". This means that when he destroys a town, he can choose which new town type to rebuild. All other heroes must rebuild the original town type or the town type they are native to. Which hero has this new skill?

Answer: Jeddite

Before the "In the Wake of Gods" modification, Jeddite's skill was an increased proficiency with the Resurrection spell. Nagash has a new specialty skill called "Veil of Darkness." Wherever he walks on the map, any terrain that had previously been revealed is again covered by a black shroud. That terrain remains covered until again explored by a hero.
