Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the Gameboy version of "King of Fighters '95" there was one secret character that was taken from one of SNK's other fighting games and didn't appear in any other "King of Fighters". Who was it?

Answer: Nakoruru "Samurai Showdown"

Yup, it's the cute samurai chick from "Samurai Shodown" that got to star in "King of Fighters '95". If you beat the game on Hard difficulty she will appear after the credits roll and challenge you into a duel. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, she will tell you the code to unlock her anyway (just press the select button 20 times when the "Takara" logo is displayed).
As for the others, Raiden (known also as Big Bear) had his appearance in the "Capcom vs. SNK" series, but Lee and Hanzou never left their original series.
2. The American and European release of Gameboy's "King of Fighters '96" had a subtitle instead of the "96" year marker. What was it?

Answer: The Heat of Battle

I don't really know why SNK changed the year marker for the subtitle, but I don't really care as long as the gameplay remains unchanged. Also "Dream Match Never Ends" was the subtitle of "King of Fighters '98", "New Age of Heroes" was the subtitle of "Marvel vs. Capcom 2" and "Warrior's Rage" was the subtitle of one of the games from the "Samurai Shodown" series.
3. How do you unlock Riot of Blood Iori in "King of Fighters R1"?

Answer: beat the game using Leona and two other characters

Beating the game with Iori or Kyo and two other characters will not unlock any secrets at all. Beating the game with Shingo and two other characters will unlock Orochi. But you must beat it with Leona if you want to unlock the crazed version of Iori, and it's worth it to.
4. Which of those characters teamed up with Yuri and Athena in "King of Fighters R2" and formed the "Super Babe Team"?

Answer: Kasumi

Mai teamed up with Yuri and Athena in "King of Fighters R1" but teamed up with Terry and Ryo in "King of Fighters R2". And both Chizuru and King didn't appear in "King of Fighters R2" at all.
5. In the Gameboy version of "King of Fighters '95" which team still had all 3 team members?

Answer: "Rival Team" - Iori, Billy, Eiji

The "Rival Team" from "King of Fighters '95" was one of those teams that appeared in one game and later broke up (it was Iori's fault in this case), just like the "Boss Team" (Geese, Krauser and Mr.Big) from "King of Fighters '96" (which was also unchanged in it's Gameboy version).
As for the other teams - Andy from the "Fatal Fury Team", Daimon from the "Hero Team" and Clark from the "Ikari Warriors Team" were absent in the Gameboy version of "King of Fighters'95" (although Andy and Daimon showed up in the Gameboy version of "King of Fighters'96" instead of Joe and Benimaru).
6. When you beat the Gameboy version of "King of Fighters '96" on Hard difficulty and wait to the end of the staff roll, you will face Mr. Karate, a secret character. However when he introduces himself, his name is mispelled as...

Answer: Mr. Karare

The introduction message goes like this - "Ah, what have we here? A battle. Whatch out, here comes MR.Karare! I've been watching your performance. Unbroken victory, most impressive. But now prepare yourself for a real challenger!".
So as you can see the mispell is "MR.Karare", although his name is spelled properly on the character selection screen and throughout the battle.
7. How many hidden characters are there in "King of Fighters R1"?

Answer: 7

There are 7 hidden characters, which are - Riot of Blood Iori, Riot of Blood Leona, Orochi Chris, Orochi Yashiro, Orochi Shermie, Orochi and Kyo'94. They are unlocked either by beating the game with a certain team, or by beating the game with a certain character teamed up with two other characters (no matter who it is).

The only exeption is Kyo'94, to unlock him tou have to highlight Kyo on the character selection screen and press the OPTION button.
8. Who is the boss in "King of Fighters R2"?

Answer: Omega Rugal

Since "King of Fighters R2" doesn't follow any storyline SNK decided to make Omega Rugal the boss, just as in "King of Fighters '98" and "King of Fighters '2002" (which also don't follow any storyline).
9. The Gameboy versions of "King of Fighters" '95 and '96 had the same bosses as the original arcade versions.

Answer: True

Of course they do.Omega Rugal is the boss in both "King of Fighters '95" and it's Gameboy version, and so is Goenitz in both "King of Fighters '96" versions. Those games have the same titles and storylines, so it would be strange if the bosses were different.
10. All of the teams from "King of Fighters" R1 and R2 were never used in the normal "King of Fighters" series.

Answer: False

Well, even though naearly all of those were present only in "King of Fighters" R1 or R2 (like Terry, Ryo and Kim (all from different teams in the nowmal series) formed the "New Southtown Team" in "King of Fighters R1") there were two teams that remained unchanged from the normal series, the "New Face Team" formed by Yashiro, Chris and Shermie, and the "Orochi New Face Team" formed by Orochi Yashiro, Orochi Chris and Orochi Shermie.
