1. Is this the first game in the series?

Answer: No

There were actually two games before this; "Metal Gear" on the MSX and NES, and "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake" on the MSX2. "Metal Gear 2" was never shipped overseas, although it was included in "Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence".

2. Provided that the difficulty is on the very easy setting, what is the first weapon you pick up?

Answer: M9

The M9 is a tranquilizer gun that was not present in the original. Using it instead of lethal weapons will improve your end game score.

3. Does Mei Ling have a Chinese accent?

Answer: No

Mei Ling has an American accent in this game, which was carried into "Metal Gear Solid 4". Again, this quiz was on the remake. She did have a Chinese accent in the original, but it was removed because according to her biography, she was born and raised in America.

4. What disorder does the soldier who's guarding Meryll's cell have?

Answer: Irritable Bowel Syndrome

The guard's name is Johnny, and he is a recurring comic relief character who constantly needs to use the bathroom in the middle of the worst situations. It seems to run in the family, as his grandfather had the same problem in "Metal Gear Solid 3".

5. What does Otacon stand for?

Answer: Otaku Convention

He explains that an Otaku is somebody who watches a lot of Anime, reads Manga, and is into anything Japanese. You can even see a clip from an anime while he explains this!

6. What is the name of the music that plays when battling Psycho Mantis?

Answer: "Infiltrator Vs. Parasite"

Again, this is on the Gamecube remake, where each boss had their own individual themes. Only the original used "Duel" for the boss battles. All the boss themes in this game have "Vs." in their title.

7. Why does Sniper Wolf shoot Meryll?

Answer: To lure out Snake so she could shoot him

Meryll gets shot in both legs and in her arm. Snake tries to save her, but has to retreat back to the armory to get a PSG1.

8. There is a tranquilizer version of the PSG1.

Answer: True

This is something borrowed from "Metal Gear Solid 2" that was only included in the remake. It simply tranquilizes enemies instead of killing them.

9. If you are playing on the hardest difficulty, how many times will Ocelot shock you with his torture machine during torture sessions?

Answer: Three

In the original version, with each increasing difficulty level, he shocks you an increasing number of times. In the remake however, it is always three no matter what.

10. After your fourth playthrough, a different song will play during the credits.

Answer: False

A different song will play in the credits after the third playthrough, not the fourth. The song is specifically the alert theme from the armoury.
