Question 2 of 10
2. I'm looking for a Normal type Pokemon, and it shouldn't be too hard to find, since it's very large and eats and sleeps a lot. It's not a fast mover, but it can take and deal out a lot of damage in battles. Which Pokemon is this? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. I'm looking for a dual type Pokemon - specifically, a Dark/Fire type. It looks like a big black dog, but with horns and a forked tail, and it can breathe fire. Which Pokemon is this? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. I'm looking for a Water/Ice type Pokemon which can cause avalanches. It looks like a giant spiked shellfish with a black pearl inside, sporting a wicked grin. You certainly won't find it in a monastery! Which Pokemon is this? Hint

7. I'm looking for a Rock/Electric Pokemon, and it shouldn't be too hard to spot because it looks like a living rock with arms. The one I'm looking for is the Alolan variant, which has massive eyebrows. Which Pokemon is this? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. I'm looking for a Fire type Pokemon, and a legendary kind at that, so it won't be easy to spot! It's one of a trio, along with Raikou and Suicune, and resembles a cross between a lion and a dragon. It originally died in a fire in the Brass Tower, but was resurrected by Ho-Oh. Which Pokemon is this? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. I'm looking for a Steel/Rock type Pokemon, a large grey creature covered in a white skeletal armour. Its preferred habitat is mountains, especially where there's iron ore to be found. Which Pokemon is this? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. I'm looking for a Dragon type Pokemon, though in this particular case, it could be mistaken for a Water Pokemon with its blue skin and the fins on the side of its head. However, in its ultimate evolved form, it changes colour! Which Pokemon is this? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I'm looking for a Grass/Poison type Pokemon, and I remember it's one of the first to appear in the series - the very first entry in the Pokedex, to be exact. It looks a bit like a tortoise, but with a flower on its back. It's a very well-behaved critter too. Which Pokemon is this?

Answer: Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur, along with Charmander and Squirtle, is one of the three starter Pokemon from the Kanto region, and originally appear in 'Pokemon Red' and 'Pokemon Green'. It evolves into Ivysaur, and then Venusaur. Known as the 'Seed Pokemon' or 'Grass Pokemon', it also appears in the 'Super Smash Bros' series.

Its signature moves include Vine Whip and Razor Leaf. It also gave its name to Bulbapedia, the biggest Pokemon wiki.
2. I'm looking for a Normal type Pokemon, and it shouldn't be too hard to find, since it's very large and eats and sleeps a lot. It's not a fast mover, but it can take and deal out a lot of damage in battles. Which Pokemon is this?

Answer: Snorlax

Snorlax - which, incidentally, is one of my favourite Pokemon to use in a battle in 'Pokemon Go' - is one of the Generation 1 Pokemon, first appearing in 'Pokemon Red', and is evolved from Munchlax. As its name suggests, it sleeps a lot and it is known as the 'Sleeping Pokemon'.

In the Generation 1 and 2 games, players must awaken it with a Pokeflute, as it has a tendency to sleep in inconvenient places. It only wakes up to eat, and can stomach pretty much anything. Its moves include Hyper Beam and Body Slam, and it is the heaviest Pokemon, using its weight to its advantage.
3. I'm looking for a dual type Pokemon - specifically, a Dark/Fire type. It looks like a big black dog, but with horns and a forked tail, and it can breathe fire. Which Pokemon is this?

Answer: Houndoom

Dark Pokemon were introduced in the second generation of games, along with Steel Pokemon. Houndoom is evolved from Houndour, and resembles a Dobermann pinscher with horns, a forked tail and bone-like structures on its back. It originally appeared in 'Pokemon Gold' and 'Pokemon Silver'. Like real life dogs, they hang around in packs, but unlike real dogs, they have poison in their stomachs which makes their fiery breath extra toxic.

It can be found in rough terrain. In the Generation 6 games, it can be evolved into Mega Houndoom with a special stone called a Houndoominite, which gives it bigger horns and more bone-like structures on its body.

Its moves include Fire Fang and Foul Play.
4. I'm looking for a Water/Ice type Pokemon which can cause avalanches. It looks like a giant spiked shellfish with a black pearl inside, sporting a wicked grin. You certainly won't find it in a monastery! Which Pokemon is this?

Answer: Cloyster

Cloyster, known as the 'Bivalve Pokemon', is evolved from the clam-like Shellder with the help of a Water Stone, and as its name suggests, it resembles a giant oyster. It originally appeared in 'Pokemon Red'. It opens its shell when fighting an opponent, and is rarely found in the wild, though the odd one can be found on the sea floor. It fires spikes and water from its shell, and also has Avalanche as a move in 'Pokemon Go'; other moves include Ice Beam and Blizzard.

('Cloisters' are covered walks often found in monasteries. Apologies for the bad pun.)
5. I'm looking for a Psychic/Fairy type Pokemon, though you might be forgiven for mistaking this one for a Grass type. It looks humanoid, and can create illusions and emit a piercing scream. Which Pokemon is this?

Answer: Kirlia

Kirlia is a Generation 3 Pokemon, introduced in 'Pokemon Ruby' and 'Pokemon Sapphire', and is evolved from Ralts. It resembles a green-haired ballerina with horns, which it uses to distort the space around it. A Dawn Stone can be used to evolve it into Gardevoir (if female) or Gallade (if male); the latter is actually a Psychic/Fighting type rather than a Psychic/Fairy.

It is known as the 'Emotion Pokemon', and can see into the future. Its moves include Disarming Voice and Draining Kiss.
6. I'm looking for a Fighting type Pokemon. This one looks like a jolly sumo wrestler, and likes to train by punching trees (and sometimes Exeggutors!) It can be found in mountainous areas. Which Pokemon is this?

Answer: Makuhita

Makuhita, the 'Gutsy Pokemon', is a Generation 3 Pokemon and was introduced in 'Pokemon Ruby' and 'Pokemon Sapphire'. It resembles a sumo wrestler, and evolves into Hariyama. A tenacious Pokemon, it likes to train by punching trees, and its nests are surrounded by broken trees; this can cause problems when the tree it punches turns out to be an Exeggutor.

Its moves include Wake-Up Slap and Vital Throw, and it is one of the only Pokemon that uses the rare move Smelling Salts, which inflicts damage on a paralysed target while also healing them.
7. I'm looking for a Rock/Electric Pokemon, and it shouldn't be too hard to spot because it looks like a living rock with arms. The one I'm looking for is the Alolan variant, which has massive eyebrows. Which Pokemon is this?

Answer: Graveler

Graveler is evolved from Geodude, and evolves into Golem. Several Pokemon from the Alola region are very different to their normal counterparts (for instance, the Alolan Rattata is brown instead of purple, and the Alolan Sandshrew is silver instead of yellow).

In the case of the Alolan Graveler, it is a Rock/Electric Pokemon, rather than a Rock/Ground one, and is recognisable by its big black eyebrows and black spikes on its arms. It is a Generation 1 Pokemon known as the 'Rock Pokemon', found in 'Pokemon Red' originally, and its moves include Rock Throw and Earthquake.

Answer: Entei

The legendary trio of Entei, Suicune (a Water Pokemon) and Raikou (a Lightning Pokemon) are Generation 2's equivalents of the Legendary Birds from the first generation (Moltres, Articuno and Zapdos). Entei was introduced in 'Pokemon Gold' and 'Pokemon Silver', and is said to represent the fire that burned down the Brass Tower. Ho-Oh, a bird-like Fire/Flying Pokemon, resurrected Entei along with Suicune and Raikou, and is viewed as the master of the three. Entei is known as the 'Volcano Pokemon', and is said to create volcanoes every time it roars.

Its moves include Sacred Fire and Flamethrower.
9. I'm looking for a Steel/Rock type Pokemon, a large grey creature covered in a white skeletal armour. Its preferred habitat is mountains, especially where there's iron ore to be found. Which Pokemon is this?

Answer: Lairon

Lairon is the evolved form of Aron, and it evolves into Aggron. It is a Generation 3 Pokemon which originally appeared in 'Pokemon Ruby' and 'Pokemon Sapphire'. Known as the 'Iron Armour Pokemon', it fights by ramming enemies with its metal body, and is very territorial. It eats iron and drinks water rich in minerals. Its signature moves include Rock Tomb and Metal Claw.

Interestingly, when Aggron evolves into Mega Aggron, it becomes a solely Steel type Pokemon.
10. I'm looking for a Dragon type Pokemon, though in this particular case, it could be mistaken for a Water Pokemon with its blue skin and the fins on the side of its head. However, in its ultimate evolved form, it changes colour! Which Pokemon is this?

Answer: Dratini

Dratini is one of the Generation 1 Pokemon, and evolves into Dragonair and then into Dragonite. Though Dratini and its first evolved form, Dragonair, both have a blue and white colour scheme, when it evolves from Dragonair into Dragonite, it becomes orange and green. Dragonair is also a Flying Pokemon as well as a Dragon type.

It originally appeared in 'Pokemon Red', and lives underwater. It grows rapidly and hides behind waterfalls while it sheds its skin. Its moves include Outrage and Dragon Tail.
