Part 1: The Story Unfolds Trivia Quiz

This quiz is about the Gamecube game, "Star Fox Adventures". It will be about the beginning of the game, until you arrive at DarkIce Mines. Good luck! Note: As Sauria is the new name for Dinosaur Planet, I refer to the set of the game as Sauria.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the female fox you control at the very beginning of the game?

Answer: Krystal

Here's what you do with Krystal, in a nutshell: Take out the Galleon's weapons and board it to find a key. Then you head off to Krazoa Palace to answer the distress signal mentioned in the brief opening scene. Finally, you enter a Krazoa Shrine, obtain the first Krazoa Spirit and return it to Krazoa Palace. Nothing else, that section of the game ends there.

It's very sudden, maybe too sudden for the game's good.
2. How many Bronze Rings must Fox fly through in the first Arwing mission to reach the surface of Sauria?

Answer: None

Heh, nice change of pace if I do say so myself. There aren't any Bronze Rings in any "Star Fox" game; just Silver and Gold Rings. Silver Rings heal hit points, there are four hit points in one full health unit. You need one Gold Ring to reach the surface of Sauria.
3. After Fox acquires Krystal's Staff and enters the Queen EarthWalker's garden, how many SharpClaws attack?

Answer: Four

This "tutorial" can be a nightmare for beginners. No, seriously, it happened to me. Sure, they're just regular, small, club-wielding SharpClaws, but four of them can wipe out a decent twelve hit points against a beginner, and the last time I checked, you have twelve hit points at that time. They just didn't give newcomers time to prepare; which could have affected the game's popularity.
4. After you acquire the Fire Blaster, you must immediately use it. What do you do with it?

Answer: Hit a switch, opening a gate

Fox needs to use it to hit the switch in the cave he's in when he gets the Fire Blaster, as the gate it's next to is closed tight. Just one direct hit on all of the switches in the game that look like that one will do the job you're likely after.
5. You've found the Queen EarthWalker, and it's time for another little mission. The Queen asks you (in Dino Language) to rescue her son, Prince Tricky, from where?

Answer: Ice Mountain

Once you rescue Tricky, you have to run around the SnowHorn Wastes to find a way back to Thorntail Hollow. To make a long explanation appropriate length for this quiz in particular, LightFoot Village, Cape Claw and Moon Mountain Pass are reached in different sections of the game, all well beyond the reach of this quiz; refer to the future quizzes in this series for information on them.
6. Later in the game, you meet up with Tricky. Which of these Sidekick Commands do you need to use first?

Answer: Find Secret

You use the command to uncover a switch that opens a gate, leading to another switch which helps you out in getting back to ThornTail Hollow. I'd say that Heel and Stay are the two least used Sidekick Commands in the game. The Flame command? Wait for the next quiz in this series.
7. You use Fire Blaster-operated switches to change the direction of the water in the cave you pass through on your way back to ThornTail Hollow.

Answer: False

There's actually only one switch, a staff-operated one, which can change the current to go both ways. Rather than having two Fire Blaster switches in this place, it seems like Nintendo decided to be clever and made just one switch that is operated by using your staff as a lever. There are a few different kinds of switches in this game, all seen several times.
8. Back in ThornTail Hollow, the Queen EarthWalker somehow fell ill. To cure her, you need six of what colour GrubTub?

Answer: White

The six GrubTubs aren't too easy to find, giving that you may need fireflies to get to them. Even with fireflies, it's dark in that cavern you find them in, let alone without them. You'll need to be either decently lucky or decently skilled to find them all.
9. Unfortunately, you can't get six of those GrubTubs out of the cave they're in without a couple of new things. One is the Firefly Lantern to carry Fireflies, and the other is a new Staff Upgrade, but which one?

Answer: Staff Booster

The Staff Booster is used on special plates on the ground to literally boost you up a predetermined distance up into the air. How high you fly depends on which plate you boost from, and is always high enough for you to get to where you're meant to be. Ground Quake, Portal Device and Freeze Blast (aka Ice Blast) are all outside the reach of this quiz; so you'll have to refer to the others in this series of quizzes for information on them.
10. Is it required to use Bomb Spores in the cave with the GrubTubs you need to get to heal the Queen EarthWalker?

Answer: Yes

You need to use them in two places, both of which are in the dark, unfortunately. But that's not so much of a problem when you have Fireflies. If only that cave the White GrubTubs are in had a name, though. It would make understanding what I mean a lot easier.
11. When you heal the Queen EarthWalker, which of these do you get at the end of the cutscene?

Answer: A key

The key, namely the SharpClaw Key, is used to open a gate somewhere. Where that gate actually is? It's the answer to the next question. XP
12. In which of these areas do you use the key you have just obtained from the Queen EarthWalker?

Answer: SnowHorn Wastes

Once you open that gate, you're free to complete your journey to find the Gatekeeper of DarkIce Mines. From this point in the game onwards, you're no longer in a simple adventure, and somehow, it feels like a game from the ever-popular "The Legend of Zelda" series. O_O
13. Beyond the gate is the Gatekeeper of DarkIce Mines. What is his name?

Answer: Garunda Te

He is one of the game's four Gatekeepers, all of which are kind of tricky. They're not difficult to find, just getting them to open the floating islands they guard is hard.
14. To free the Gatekeeper of DarkIce Mines, how many Frost Weeds do you need?

Answer: Three

To get the Frost Weeds, you have to hit the tree that you went past when you opened the gate. Still, it's difficult to get the Frost Weeds to the Gatekeeper of DarkIce Mines, and added with constantly having four SharpClaw on your tail because they just won't stop spawning mixed in with you only having a maximum of twelve hit points doesn't help cook up a pleasant time.
15. Once you open up DarkIce Mines, you need to fly there in your Arwing. To get to your destination, how many Bronze Rings need you fly through?

Answer: None

You'd probably know by now if you read Question 2's Interesting Info. You need Gold Rings, and to get to DarkIce Mines you need three. I hope you enjoyed my quiz!
