Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

1. What Pokemon can you NOT obtain in this game without trading?

Answer: Cyndaquil

You have to trade to get Cyndaquil however, the rest of these can either be caught in the wild, evolved from something caught in the wild, or hatched from an egg given to you.

2. Which of these types does no gym leader or Elite Four member specialize in?

Answer: Bug

The types that are specialized in include, in this order: Rock, Water, Electric, Grass, Poison, Psychic, Fire, Ground, Ice, Fighting, Ghost, Dragon.

3. Unless you have traded or cheated, which of these is the only Pokemon you could use to battle Erika?

Answer: Snorlax

You have to trade in order to make Haunter evolve into Gengar. Golbat doesn't evolve into Crobat until you have the NationalDex, which is only available after the Elite Four. Mr. Mime is acquired through a trade near Pewter City. Snorlax, however, can be caught after you get the Poke Flute, which you don't necessarily need Erika's badge to get.

4. Where do you NOT battle your rival?

Answer: Four Island

You see your rival on Four Island, but he just talks and doesn't fight you. You see him again on a later island, and then again in the second championship battle.

5. In "Pokemon Red" and "Blue" for the GBC, Moltres could be found at Victory Road. In "FireRed" and "LeafGreen," this is not the case. Where is Moltres now?

Answer: Mt. Ember

He is at the top of Mt. Ember, which is northeast of One Island. Technically, this means that you can now have all three legendary birds before getting your eighth badge.

6. Suicune is available to capture in this game. How can you obtain him?

Answer: The wild, anywhere in Kanto, after you get the NationalDex

This is only if you chose Charmander. It's Entei if you chose Bulbasaur, and Raikou if you chose Squirtle.

7. After beating the Elite Four for the first time, how many Pokemon do you need to get the NationalDex?

Answer: Sixty

If you have to get up to sixty after beating the Elite Four, then just talk to Professor Oak when you're done.

8. Where can you NOT find a Rare Candy?

Answer: Seafoam Islands

Rare Candies can be found in many areas, but there are places where you can't find it like Rock Tunnel, Seafoam Islands, and S.S. Anne.

9. What is the first Fighting Pokemon you can catch?

Answer: Mankey

Mankey is on Route 22. Hitmonchan is in Saffron City. Machop is in Rock Tunnel. Poliwrath evolves from Poliwag, which appears in water. Route 22 is, by far, the first of these places you'll get to.

10. Which type combo has no weakness in this game?

Answer: Ghost and Dark

Grass/Water is weak against Poison. Psychic/Steel is weak against Fire. Water/Dragon is weak against Dragon. However, Ghost/Dark is weak against nothing.
