Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Your Pokemon has maximum IVs in every stat. Which of these personalities can it NOT have?

Answer: Quick Tempered

Unlikely, I know. A quick tempered Pokemon can only have its dominant IVs at a maximum of 29. All of the others will allow the IVs to reach the ultimate 31. As for why the maximum is 31, I have absolutely no idea. In the days of 'Pokemon Gold and Silver', IVs (then known as DVs, or Deter Values) only maxed out at 30. Strange...
2. What is the lowest IVs a Pokemon can have in any stat?

Answer: 0

This is quite unlikely, but your Pokemon can have the IVs for any stat at 0! Sure, I'm not sure why you'd want this. It doesn't exactly give you bragging rights. If one of a Pokemon's IVs is set at 0, however, it doesn't necessarily that all of its other IVs will be useless, too.
3. Which of these IVs (in any stat) can a Pokemon with the personality 'Likes to Run' not have?

Answer: 31

A Pokemon that likes to run cannot have 31 IVs in any stat, because it maxes out at 30! IVs are split into groups of 5, with each different personality that is dominant in that particular stat taking 'turns'. Different personalities are dominant for different IVs. The best personality for dominant Speed IVs is 'Alert to Sounds'.
4. Which of these IVs is it NOT possible to catch a wild Pokemon with?

Answer: All of them are possible

IVs are completely random. Any Pokemon can have any amount of IVs (up to 31, of course) in any stat. You really want your Pokemon to have its dominant IVs in its best stats. For example, a Swellow would do well having good IVs in Speed and Attack, as they are the stats used most by that particular Pokemon.
5. Your Pokemon has the personality 'Sturdy Body'. Which of these IV ranges is its Defense most likely to be?

Answer: 15

Sturdy Body is the second best personality for defense IVs. It can max out at 30. The best personality for dominant defense IVs is 'Capable of Taking Hits'.
6. If your Pokemon has dominant IVs in one stat, what will the IVs or the rest of the stats be?

Answer: Anything Equal or lower than the dominant one

As you can probably tell, the dominant IVs are always the highest. Other IVs can be the same as the dominant one, but this is quite unlikely. It is theoretically possible to have a Pokemon with 31 IVs in every stat, but any Pokemon with perfect IVs is always thought to be hacked, because of the extreme rarity of this occurring.
7. You can breed your Pokemon for better IVs.

Answer: True

Well, you can try to breed your Pokemon for better IVs. If you're going to attempt this, make sure that the Pokemon you're breeding it with has good IVs, because this greatly reduces the randomness of the IVs. Just like in the animal kingdom in the real world, it's 'Survival of the Fittest' in the Pokemon world, too. Female Pokemon with good IVs are likely to pass them on to the next generation.
8. Which of these items will improve your Pokemon's IVs?

Answer: There isn't one

Every Pokemon's IVs is set from the moment you encounter it. They can NOT be changed, no matter what you do. The Macho Brace is used for EV training, the Everstone is used for Nature inheritance or evolution inhibition, and there is no such thing as a 'Mystic Band'. I made it up completely. Sorry if it threw you.
9. When breeding Pokemon, when are the IVs of the egg Pokemon decided?

Answer: Once you have taken it from the Day Care Man

Contrary to common belief, the IVs of your new baby Pokemon are set the moment the egg is created. This can be proved by once again referring back to the real world. A baby's DNA is set from the moment of conception (this can be changed by mutations, but we're not discussing it here). This logic is used in the Pokemon world as well. IVs are effectively a strand of a Pokemon's DNA.
10. A Lv.56 Bibarel has the following IVs: 17 HP, 21 Atk, 19 Def, 4 Sp.Atk, 11 Sp.Def, 21 Spd. What personality is it most likely to have?

Answer: It's impossible to tell

As the Bibarel has 21 IVs in both Speed and Attack, you can't tell which is the dominant IV. 'Alert to Sounds' and 'Likes to Thrash About' are both possible candidates, but you would need the IVs to be different in either stat in order to eliminate one.

So, how did you do?
