Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Chrmln

Answer: Charmeleon

When Charmander hits level 16 it can then evolve into Charmeleon. This is not the final stage of its evolution as Charmeleon can evolve into Charizard from level 36. One thing that remains consistent each time it evolves is that there is always a flame at the tip of this Pokemons tail. Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard first appeared in the "Pokemon Red", "Green" and "Blue" video games for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1996 in Japan. "Red" and "Blue" went on to be released worldwide from 1998 onwards.

2. Nntls

Answer: Ninetales

When Vulpix has been exposed to a fire stone, the Pokemon that it evolves into is called Ninetales. The fire stone is an evolution stone that contains a mystical energy which is the only way certain species of Pokemon can evolve into their next form. The Ninetales Pokemon was only available for the Japanese "Green" version of the game. However Ninetales and other exclusive Pokemon from "Pokemon Red", "Green" and "Blue" editions could be traded with different versions of the Nintendo Game Boy video game.

3. Smsr

Answer: Simisear

When Pansear is exposed to a fire stone, the resulting evolution is the Pokemon called Simisear. Pansear is one of three elemental monkeys, the other two being Pansage and Panpour. Panpour is associated with being a water type and Pansage is a grass type. Pansear and Simisear first appeared in Japan for the "Pokemon Black" and "White" video games in 2010 for the Nintendo DS and the games were released to the rest of the world in 2011.

4. Rcnn

Answer: Arcanine

Arcanine is the Pokemon that is the result of exposing Growlithe to a fire stone. In the anime TV series both Growlithe and Arcanine are used as police dogs. Arcanine first appeared in Japanese versions of "Pokemon Red" and "Blue" in 1996 for the Nintendo Game Boy. He also featured in the "Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition" which was released in 1998 in Japan for Nintendo Game Boy Colour and the rest of the world from 1999 onwards.

5. Mgmr

Answer: Magmar

Magmar is hot! Take fair warning that those yellow flames on his predominantly red body are not there for show. This dude can seriously sear and cinder. His body temperature races at a "cool" 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit, he lives in volcanoes and heals his wounds by swimming in lava. As you may have guessed, he doesn't like the frigid zones and avoids cooler climates like cold sores as much as possible. These will slow him down markedly and make him look and feel all dopey.

6. Cmbskn

Answer: Combusken

Combusken is the "Young Fowl Pokemon" in other words, a chicken and a fire/fighting one at that! It evolves from Torchic and Blaziken. Combusken's abilities are Blaze and Speed Boost. The chicken can kick ten times per second and spew fire from its beak. First seen in "Pokemon Ruby" and "Pokemon Sapphire" for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance but Combusken is seen in other games in the Pokemon series.

7. Rpdsh

Answer: Rapidash

When Ponyta reaches level 40 it is capable of evolving into Rapidash. In the anime TV series, Ash, while riding a Ponyta in a race, won the race as the Ponyta evolved into Rapidash towards the end. The Rapidash Pokemon appeared in most versions of the Pokemon video games. In those games such as "Pokemon Ruby" and "Sapphire" for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance where it was not available at the start, it could be attained through trading.

8. Cmrpt

Answer: Camerupt

The Camerupt's name comes from a combination of camel and erupt, which makes sense since it looks like a Bactrian camel, a two humped camel, with two volcanoes for humps. The Pokémon lives in the craters of volcanoes and its volcanoes erupt when it becomes angry. Camerupt's first major appearance came in 46th episode of the "Advanced Generation" series and 320th episode overall. The episode was entitled "Candid Camerupt". The character has since appeared in the Nintendo DS games "Pokémon Ranger" and "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time" among others.

9. Qlv

Answer: Quilava

Some Pokemon I can understand and others, well they leave you scratching your head. Quilava definitely fits in the latter category. This guy has two spots on his head and a further three on his rear end from which he blows out flames. He's definitely not a ladies' man with those skills and I'll wager he copped a real hard time at school the first time he ate a curried egg sandwich. The Quilava has fur that doesn't burn and he has the power to emit fire. He obviously missed out on the brains because he sets up his natural habitat in the grasslands. The odds are good that he's popular with the neighbours at the height of summer - not!

10. Mbr

Answer: Emboar

Emboar (a combination of ember and boar) has a large boar-like stature with flames shooting out of his neck and thunderbolt shaped eyebrows. The skin of his chest and head are orange and he has a black torso and tail. Oriental golden designs flow around his chest and back. Emboar was evolved from Pignite (at level 36) and carries his red pig-like nose from that. In version "Pokemon Black 2 and White 2", he is able to throw the 'Fire Punch' by igniting his fists from his fiery beard. He is the mentor of Tepig and is later revealed to have started out just like Tepig. He is the only fire-type Pokemon that can throw the water-type move, 'Scald'.
