"Shining Force" Characters Trivia Quiz

Answer: Anri

Princess Anri is the daughter of King Guardiana, who is killed very early on in the game by Kane. Anri joins in Manarina after initially hiding from your main character, and proves to be a useful mage later on in the game.
There is also a cheat way to provide Anri with some more revealing clothes (if you're into that sort of thing...).

Answer: Shell

There are a few other characters who show their faces yet do not join your Force, for example any kings that you meet along the way, Nova (your guide throughout the adventure), some of your more high profile enemies like Kane and General Elliot and Lord Varios.

Shell herself is from Waral, who generously fix your broken ship for free (in spite of scaring you initially with a huge price!).

Shelra is Shell's mother, Shimol is Shell's Aunt and Shela is Shell's sister.

Answer: Boken

Although Boken is fairly useless (except when he breaks you out of jail), it's nice to see a familiar face as you go on through the game!

Answer: Balbazak

You meet Balbazak at his Fortress by the Harbour at the end of Chapter 4. You then go on to steal his boat after he is shown no mercy by Darksol and destroyed.

You fight Mishaela in the Demon Castle and receive the Sword of Light at the end of the battle, in addition to being able to find the Black, White and Evil rings in treasure chests at various spots around the map. Her Bolt level 2 attack is particularly dangerous as it can cause damage to several of your characters at the same time.

Chaos is a dangerous Robot who you meet near the Shining Path in Metapha. He fights with a laser, causing an almost certain 20 points of damage when he attacks one of your characters.

You fight Ramladu in one of the final battles of the game, in Runefaust Castle. In this battle, there are lines and lines of deadly Steel Claws and Torch Eyes which can shoot from 2 spaces away and cause 20 damage a time.

Answer: Musashi

Musashi is a very dangerous character, and it is a shame that you only get him so close to the end of the game! He joins in Prompt when you read a sign on one of the walls in the city and is armed initially with a Katana. His movement is slow and he's affected badly by terrain.

Kokichi is a crazy old man who you find in Bustoke, and who joins you once he's figured out the snags in his "Winged Knight" machine in Pao Prairie (once the town has wheeled away for the first time). His weapons are the same as a Knight/Paladin's.

Torasu is a Monk who you pick up with the Mage Alef in the Tower of the Ancients, after you leave Prompt. He, like Alef, is able to be promoted as soon as he joins.

Hanzou is a Ninja who comes equipped with a Doom Blade once you find him. As well as attacking, he is able to use a few magic attacks.

Answer: Hanzou

You pick up the multi-talented Hanzou just before the final battles in Runefaust. Unfortunately, it's impossible to train him up as you only have a couple of fights in which to do so!

Adam also joins very late in the day - after the battle with his fellow Robot Chaos in Metapha. He becomes a very dangerous Cyborg if you decide to train him up, although once again, you don't have many fights in which to do so.

Bleu joins, as you might expect for a dragon, in Dragonia. Although he becomes very strong, in particular when he starts to belch fire late into his development, he is very weak when he starts out on the "Shining Force" and as such is a character who requires patience to achieve his full potential!

Answer: Yes

Amon, one of the two birdmen in your team, can also use the special swords, although interestingly, her colleague and superior Balbaroy cannot. This is a useful piece of knowledge to have as it can help train the initially weak Amon up to a similar level as Balbaroy quickly.

Answer: Wolf Baron

Zylo is a dangerous werewolf and one of the strongest characters in the game. He is particularly useful on difficult terrain as his movement is largely unaffected by mountains or rough ground, and as such he can get to far away enemies as quickly as the birdmen.

You find Zylo in Bustoke, and although you are initially informed that he has gone crazy by the townspeople, after you feed him Lunar Dew, he becomes tame again and joins the "Shining Force".

Answer: Arthur

Arthur is one of the 2 characters who you pick up in Manarina (along with Anri) and learns Bolt, Blaze and Freeze level 1.

Pelle used to fight for the Runefaust army, but rejects them just before your battle with the Laser Eye near Bustoke and as a result is charged by a Silver Knight down the mountainside. Somehow he holds on and drags himself up the cliff again just before you leave the battle area and joins the "Shining Force"!

Vankar is the toast of Pao, and has a rather large chip on his shoulder as a result! He joins at the same time as Kokichi after Pao has moved from their first stop in Pao Prairie.

Mae is Varios's daughter and is Captain of the Knights in Guardiana. She joins you upon your return to Guardiana after the first couple of battles.

Answer: By searching in a bush

Hanzou is the last character you pick up in the game. You find him by searching in the on your right-hand side just after you enter Runefaust. Hanzou's bush is the one with the flowers in it. He comes armed with a Doom Blade and can also cast some spells - Sleep, Desoul, Dispel and eventually Shield.

Musashi the Samurai is found by reading a note pinned to the wall in Prompt.

Jogurt can be recruited in Pao on your first visit by going through what appears to be a wall in the church. Jogurt is completely useless as all his stats remain at 1 for the duration of the game! If you manage somehow to defeat an enemy with Yogurt, you will receive a Jogurt Ring which, if used, makes the character who wears it look like Yogurt when they attack, even though they do the same damage as before.

As you might have guessed, there's no such thing as a Ninja egg! The only egg you get during the game is the Domingo Egg which is used to hatch Domingo, the Freeze-casting jellyfish-like creature! Domingo can be hatched in Pao on your first visit there by a man who says he can warm and hatch your egg in seconds.
