Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many named dragons cannot be tamed using Bend Will?

Answer: Six

Alduin, Paarthurnax, Durnehviir, Voslaarum, Naaslaarum, and Vulthuryol cannot be ridden. Although the first three are due to story reasons, the latter three are simply because it is not feasible for the Dragonborn to fly in those locations due to map restrictions.
2. Of these translated dragon names, which is found underground?

Answer: Dark Overlord Fire

Vulthuryol is the hidden dragon in Blackreach that is summoned by using the Unrelenting Force shout on the glowing orb on the ceiling. Although being an Ancient Dragon, Vulthuryol is weaker than most. Mirmulnir, whom you fight near Whiterun, is the first dragon encountered aside from Alduin. Krosulhah is encountered outside Nchardak in Solstheim during the Dragonborn quest line. Sahrotaar is Miraak's dragon and is encountered before fighting him.
3. How many living dragons does the Dragonborn encounter that were most likely NOT resurrected by Alduin?

Answer: 10

Ten dragons are encountered that survived the dragon war and lived until the Fourth Era. Paarthurnax is the most prominent of these. Miraak has four dragons under his command - Sahrotaar, Krosulhah, Kruziikrel, and Relonikiv. Four dragons were in regions inaccessible to Alduin: the twins Naaslaarum and Voslaarum were sleeping in the Forgotten Vale, Durnehviir is stuck in the Soul Cairn, and Vulthuryol resides in Blackreach.

The last of the surviving dragons is the first dragon the player kills - Mirmulnir.

In the book "Atlas of Dragons" encountered in the game, it is stated that Mirmulnir was, at last report, NOT slain by the Blades and resided somewhere in the Reach.
4. During the Bard's College quest, which of these is NOT a way in which Olaf One-Eye can be said to have captured the dragon Numinex?

Answer: Olaf battled Numinex to exhaustion

Although the original tale of King Olaf One-Eye has him battling Numinex for days until the latter is too weak to resist capture, the Bard's College thinks that story is a bit too dull. After finding the partial book written by the ancient bard Svaknir, the Bard's College decides to tell the story differently.

The player chooses which option to put in the verse, but combat is not one of them.
5. A possible random encounter involves a dragon simply flying in circles above the player and roaring. These dragons are not aggressive unless the player uses the Dragonrend shout. If you decide to cheat and use the developer console the move the dragon toward you, what will it most likely do?

Answer: Speak

Clicking on the dragon and using the console command "moveto.player" will bring the dragon down to your level. Often, the dragon will respond with the phrase "Speak, if you have aught to say worth the listening". This phrase is also used by any dragon waiting for resurrection in a burial mound (Vuljotnaak is the most common of these). Unless you use Dragonrend, even attacking these non-aggressive dragons will not cause them to become aggressive.

Instead, the dragon eventually flies away faster than the player can follow and despawns once it gets far enough away.
6. Paarthurnax is the only dragon whose corpse can provide more than three Dragon Bones upon death.

Answer: False

Paarthurnax's corpse can be looted for six Dragon Bones - twice the amount taken from any other dragon except ONE. During the Eye of Magnus questline, the Dragonborn encounters a skeletal dragon in Labyrinthian. Killing this dragon does not reward the player with a Dragon Soul or Dragon Scales, but grants up to six Dragon Bones instead.
7. Aside from Alduin, which dragon is the only one to have its own unique Shout?

Answer: Durnehviir

Because of his background with necromancy, Durnehviir is the only dragon to use Soul Cairn Summon, which allows him to summon undead soldiers from the Soul Cairn. Durnehviir is the only NPC capable of summoning using a Dragon Shout. Unfortunately, this Shout is not available to the player.
8. The dragons encountered in the Forgotten Vale are the only ones seen to do what?

Answer: Swim

Naaslaarum and Voslaarum are two Revered Dragons found in the Dawnguard expansion. Because they reside in a lake, they are the only dragons capable of swimming and attacking underwater. It is possible to have multiple dragons attack at once - the most common way is to have a random encounter near an occupied dragon lair.

The twins do not burrow, and are not the only ones capable of using more than one Shout (other Revered Dragons exist that can use Drain Vitality, Fire Breath, and Unrelenting Force).
9. Not including scripted encounters, at what player level will one begin to encounter dragons that are capable of using more than two Shouts?

Answer: 59

Along with Unrelenting Force and their chosen elemental breath, Dragons also use Destruction magic such as Fireball and Ice Storm. Although they are devastating attacks, they are not Shouts. The only dragons that use more than two Shouts, not including Alduin, are Revered Dragons and Legendary Dragons - encountered as low as levels 59 and 78, respectively.

These dragons are capable of using Fire or Frost Breath, Unrelenting Force, and Drain Vitality.
10. Which dragon uses a Shout that does not include words?

Answer: Alduin

Alduin's Meteor Storm ability is unique to him alone and is unique among Shouts in that it does not consist of any Words of Power. Instead, the ability is prefaced by a roar or a sound like thunder. This is also the first Shout witnessed by the player.
