Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What area was the original "Assassin's Creed" game, for the Xbox 360, set in?

Answer: The Holy Land

The correct answer is the Holy Land, although all of the other locations listed above have cropped up in sequels to the original game. Jerusalem, Acre and Damascus are all explorable in the first title, which was released in 2007 by Ubisoft.
2. What is the name of Donkey Kong's long-term love interest?

Answer: Candy Kong

Candy Kong appeared in the first "Donkey Kong Country" game back in 1994. She's made at least a cameo in almost every "Donkey Kong" game since, although she was omitted in Retro Studios' 2010 title "Donkey Kong Country Returns".
3. Epona, Rapidash, Geryon and Ruin are examples of which type of animal?

Answer: Horse

Epona is Link's horse from various "Legend of Zelda" games, Ruin is War's steed from "Darksiders", the demonic Geryon is a boss in "Devil May Cry 3", and Rapidash is the flaming horse Pokemon from the original 150. They're also all virtually unrideable - Epona only lets Link ride her, and Rapidash, Geryon and Ruin all emit fire from their bodies!
4. Which of these bands has not had a song in the "Crazy Taxi" or "Crazy Taxi 2" soundtrack?

Answer: Pennywise

The series usually features punk rock songs, Bad Religion and Offspring both making up the first game's soundtrack, and Methods of Madness were introduced in the second game. "Crazy Taxi" and its sequel was developed by Hitmaker and published by Sega, firstly for arcade machines and later for the dreamcast collection.
5. Which of these was not a member of the Star Fox team?

Answer: Wolf O'Donnell

In "Star Fox" Fox McCloud, Peppy Hare, Slippy Toad and Falco Lombardi worked together to take down the evil Andross. Wolf O'Donnell is the leader of the rival Star Wolf Team, and therefore the correct answer. Bizarrely, Slippy Toad is a frog, Peppy Hare is a rabbit, and Falco is actually a Vietnamese pheasant.
6. Popular gaming event E3 is held in California. What's the name of the city that the first-ever E3 was held in, in 1995?

Answer: Los Angeles

E3 is one of the biggest gaming events in the world and was held in Los Angeles in 1995, where it continued to be held there every year until 2007 when it was moved to Santa Monica temporarily. Its full title is Electronic Entertainment Expo, from which the 3 Es derive.
7. Which of these heroes was the first to debut in a video game?

Answer: Pac-man

"Donkey Kong" hit arcades in 1981, so Pacman has been battling... fighting... uh, doing whatever it is he does... for a year more (the arcade game was released in October 1980). Not to mention, Donkey Kong was a villain at the time - although his grandson would be the protagonist of 1994 hit "Donkey Kong Country". Of course, Lara Croft would not appear until "Tomb Raider" in 1996, and Master Chief has only been around since 2001 and "Halo: Combat Evolved".
8. What is the name of Sonic's friend and companion?

Answer: Tails

Tails is a fox whose full name is apparently 'Miles Prowers', a pun on 'Miles per hour'. He was first introduced in "Sonic the Hedgehog 2", and has been a series staple ever since.
9. What kind of vehicle was used in the N64 game "Wave Race" and its Gamecube sequel "Wave Race: Blue Storm"?

Answer: Jet Ski

"Wave Race" was a bouncy little racing title from Nintendo that involved racing jet skis around aquatic courses, navigating buoys and even doing stunts and tricks. It sold reasonably well, and even managed a 9.7 score on video games rating site IGN. The water effects were well ahead of their time, and the ability to make friends with dolphins made the game a sure fire hit.
10. Who led the Brotherhood of Nod in the original 1995 Playstation game "Command & Conquer"?

Answer: Kane

Kane was an enigmatic and mysterious figure in the original "Command & Conquer" title, portrayed by video game director and actor Joseph D. Kucan (a role that he has since played for so long that he was inducted into the "2008 Guinness World Records Gamer Edition"). Kane is seemingly immortal, having survived numerous wars and a blast from an ion cannon.
