Sonic starts off the hero side. Rouge and Shadow are playable in the dark story but they do not start it off. Hero story starts in the sky. Dark story starts out in the middle of breaking in a military building.

Shadow made a promise to Maria 50 years ago as they tried to escape the ark. Maria forced shadow in an escape pod in order to get him to escape. This shows she sacrificed her life for him.

The fifth mission for EVERY stage in the game is Hard Mode. To access this mission you have to complete the 4 missions before it on each stage. Even the final story has a hard mode which will test your skills beyond belief. Beat every extra mission and you will be awarded with something.

Hyper Sonic made an appearance in the '90s in a game called "Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles" (which came out for the Sega Genesis and later for the "Sonic Mega Collection" for Nintendo Gamecube). After collecting all the super emeralds, you can transform into Hyper Sonic. You can double jump, breathe under water, and kill everything on the screen at once! Super Shadow appears along with Super Sonic at the final boss fight in the game. Tikal and Metal sonic are both playable in 2 player mode.

Shadow felt it was useless to help out when he arrived later. He said to Amy "it's all going according to plan." Then he got a flash back to Maria again and rushed in to help, thus starting a fight with Bio-Hazard to buy Sonic and Knuckles some time. After spending so much time fighting this boss, it is interesting to see that Sonic and Knuckles only got up the near by stairs!

As Sonic walks out of the room he stops and says "Sayonara... Shadow... the Hedgehog." This was because everyone thought Shadow had died due to him giving up his life for the world. In a Nintendo Gamecube game called "Shadow the Hedgehog" you find out in the middle of the final boss fight that Eggman sent a robot to save Shadow at the last second.

S is only for the chao stats. In later Sonic games, S is used for the highest letter grade. After you get an A on all levels, you "Phantasy Star" fans will be rewarded.

Most Chao areas are dead ends and the only way back is jumping in a death pit or having an enemy kill you so this extra life would help you out. If for some reason you want to visit the Chao area again in the same play through, the life will be gone since you can only earn an extra life from a container once per play through of a level.

When two enemies are killed consecutively, a "good" will appear on the screen and then say "100". The highest bonus grade is a "perfect" and earns you 2000 points. This is usually only possible with Tails or Eggman since they can destroy multiple enemies at one time.

Answer: You get to play a 3-D version of Green-Hill Zone

When all emblems are collected you can play the same exact Green Hill Zone from "Sonic the Hedgehog" made in 1991 for the Sega Genesis, but in 3D! And just like any green hill zone remake, there is a way to beat the level in under a minute. What is also neat is that the old school jumping sounds are back and the old smashing sounds are back.
