The second mission for every stage is collect 100 rings. Luckily, the stage just ends right when you gather 100 rings. The good thing of doing these missions is that since you need 100 rings to gain an extra life, you get an extra life every time you beat the mission!

In the level "Aquatic Mine" you can get this well-hidden ability. I won't spoil how to get this wonderful power up, but when you find the path to it, don't go too slow or you may drown. Getting this power up will help knuckles' part on the final story significantly since most of it takes place underwater.

Tails made the fake emerald from the yellow emerald, which is why the color of the fake one is yellow. The fake one may not be as powerful as the real one but it can do the same powers to a limit. This is why Sonic was able to escape the exploding capsule at the last second with chaos control.
