Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Spider-Man accidentally destroys a mystical artifact, it's up to him (and his counterparts from other dimensions) to re-assemble it. What artifact does Spider-Man destroy in the opening of the game?

Answer: Tablet of Order and Chaos

Spider-Man ("Amazing Fantasy" #15, 1962) destroys the tablet in a fight with Mysterio ("Amazing Spider-Man" #13, 1964).

The fight takes place in a museum that has banners advertising an exhibit on Lemuria, which is the name of a sunken city in the Marvel Universe similar to Atlantis. In fact, there are two locations known as Lemuria in the Marvel Universe: one is a city of mer-people in the ruins of the original sunken Lemuria and the other is an underground city founded by the escapees of the original Lemuria.
2. What is the name of the telepath that sends Spider-Man on his missions and helps him in the game?

Answer: Madam Web

Madam Web ("Amazing Spider-Man" #210, 1980) was killed at the hand of Sasha Kravinoff (wife of Kraven the Hunter) in "Amazing Spider-Man" #637 (2010) and passed her mental powers (and blindness) to Arachne (Julia Carpenter, formerly Spider-Woman, "Secret Wars" vol. 1 #6, 1984).

A version of Madam Web has appeared in the Ultimate Marvel Universe in "Ultimate Spider-Man" #102 (2007).
3. The game features four main versions of Spider-Man across different dimensions. Which one is not named Peter Parker?

Answer: Spider-Man 2099

Miguel O'Hara ("Amazing Spider-Man" #365, 1992) is Spider-Man 2099.

All of the different versions of Spider-Man in the game were voiced by different actors who had previously provided the voice for Spider-Man in a cartoon series:

Amazing: Neil Patrick Harris, "Spider-Man: The New Animated Series" (2003)
Noir: Christopher Daniel Barnes, "Spider-Man" (1994-1998)
2099: Dan Gilvezan, "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" (1981-1986)
Ultimate: Josh Keaton, "The Spectacular Spider-Man" (2008)
4. Which of the following villains has appeared in comics before and was NOT created for the game?

Answer: Vulture Noir

The Noir version of Vulture ("Spider-Man Noir" #1, 2009) is a circus geek with a taste for human flesh. He killed and ate Spider-Man's Uncle Ben. In the comics he is little more than a savage creature on a leash.

Although a female version of Dr. Octopus did appear in comics before (Lady Octopus, "Amazing Spider-Man" #406, 1995) the 2099 version was created specifically for the game. As one of the loading screen hints indicates, the 2099 version was inspired by Lady Octopus.
5. In the Amazing dimension, Silver Sable and her mercenaries cause problems for Spider-Man. What is her band of mercenaries called?

Answer: The Wild Pack

Silver Sable ("Amazing Spider-Man" #265, 1985) is the leader of the small nation of Symkaria, which neighbors Latveria, the nation of Doctor Doom. The two nations have had diplomatic relations since World War II.

"Silver Sable & The Wild Pack" was an ongoing title that started in 1992 and lasted for 35 issues.
6. In the Noir dimension, where does the Goblin find his top henchmen?

Answer: carnivals

The Goblin's henchmen are all from carnival side shows, just like him. The Goblin Noir level in the game is set at a carnival.

In the Noir comics, the Goblin's henchmen also included Kraven, a lion tamer, and the Chameleon.
7. In the 2099 dimension, the Alchemax logo looks similar to the logo for what super-hero team?

Answer: Avengers

The stylized "A" first appeared on the cover of "Avengers" #96, 1972. Spider-Man 2099 comments on the resemblance during the game.

In the original 2099 universe, Miguel O'Hara is a scientist working for Alchemax before he becomes Spider-Man 2099. He eventually gains Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, and rules the world for a thousand years of peace and prosperity. Other versions of the 2099 universe include ones where Miguel is unmasked and then joins the dimension-hopping heroes called the Exiles and the Timestorm version, where Miguel gets his powers while a student instead of as an adult.

The game developer, Beenox, was obviously confused about the different versions of the 2099 universe, as evidenced by the loading screen hint that both Venom 2099 and Scorpion 2099 are both named Kron Stone. While the game obviously features the original Spider-Man 2099 (an older Miguel O'Hara that works at Alchemax), the original Kron Stone became Venom 2099. In the Timestorm version, Kron becomes Scorpion 2099.
8. In the Ultimate dimension, where does Spider-Man go for help, but encounters Carnage instead?

Answer: Triskelion

Although a triskelion is a symbol of three interlocking spirals (or legs, or similar parts), the Triskelion is the base for the Ultimates, an Avengers-like group in the Ultimate universe.

The Ultimates work for S.H.I.E.L.D. and have included Captain America, the Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor as members.
9. How many "Hidden Spiders" are there in the game?

Answer: 96

There are eight Hidden Spiders on each of the twelve main levels. Collecting the Hidden Spiders is necessary to complete the "Web of Destiny" to unlock bonuses in the game. You'll need all 180 challenges completed to unlock everything.
10. Which of the following alternate versions of Spider-Man shows up in the final cutscene of the game, too late to help?

Answer: Spider-Ham

Spider-Ham ("Marvel Tales Starring Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham" #1, 1983), was a spider named Peter who was bitten by a radioactive pig named May Porker. Peter was transformed into a pig but still had the abilities of a spider, and May believed him to be her nephew.

In "What The--?!" #26 (1993), Piguel O'Hara and his super-hero identity of Spider-Ham 15.88 was introduced.
