In a flashback told by the sages in Arbiter's Grounds, they stab Ganon and the Triforce on his hand starts to glow as he gains power. Ganon also shows it when you are at the final battle in Hyrule Castle right before he possesses Zelda.

The Ghostly Ether is a different world from the light and twilight world. This is where you meet a heroic skeleton in armor that teaches Link hidden skills so he can become the true hero.

Zant is a member of the Twili race. When Zant gains his power, he wants to take over Hyrule and engulf it in twilight. He was only able to engulf three quarters of Hyrule in twilight which Link is needed to save by collecting Tears of Light to release a certain area from twilight.

Ganondorf posed as a god to Zant, but what Zant didn't know was that Ganon was just using him to escape imprisonment. Ganon promised power, immorality, and a chance to become king of the Twili people and realm.

If you remember when Link got the stone embedded into his head and turned him into a wolf. He went to the Sacred Grove and got the Master Sword which removed the stone from his head and transformed him to his proper self. Having the Master Sword kept him from turning into a wolf.

Link was known as The Hero of Time since he was able to go from kid to adult form by raising the Master Sword, Link is a reincarnation of previous or future Zelda games. Link was a reincarnation of the Link from "Ocarina of Time". When you discover a new hidden skill, the warrior that you fight and learn the skills may be Link's spirit from "Ocarina of Time".

In "Ocarina of Time" Link was known as, The Hero of Time. The bottom line is that since Link in "Twilight Princess" is the reincarnation of Link from "Ocarina of Time", made him turn into a wolf, not a spirit.

Ganon was banished to the Twilight Realm by the sages that guard the Mirror of Twilight. The sages didn't know that he was the wielder of the Triforce of Power. He almost escapes but they send him into the portal stone and sends him to the Twilight Realm. He found Zant and used him to get out of his imprisonment.

Link was just an ordinary farmboy living in a tiny little village called Ordon Village. The protector/god of Ordon Village is Ordana. Link meets Ordana after Link has become a wolf. Ordona tells him that he must go save the three Gods of Hyrule.

When Zant gained his powers from Ganondorf, he became king of the Twilight Realm. He used Ganon's dark magic to turn her into an Imp which is why she didn't turn back to her natural self when Link defeated Zant. The reason why Midna turned into an imp is because Zant's curse removed her as princess of the Twilight Realm.
