Question 1 of 10
1. One enemy to look out for is a floating red ball met on the ending rickety bridge at Mt. Corel. Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. This enemy takes the form of a giant floating eye with yellow skin and is met in the Northern Cave. A similar, more deadly cousin of it has appeared in 'Final Fantasy IV' (SNES), however, it can induce sadness with its Teardrop skill. Which enemy is this? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Our next enemy is rather static, and only attacks when attacked, since it hangs from the ceiling. It always appears with four Evilheads, and defeating them helps to cross the water in Gaea's Cliff. Which enemy is this? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. The Midgar Zolom is a giant serpent that terrorises the swamps near the Chocobo farm. Although it can be fought early in the game, doing so unpreparedly will result in death for a novice, however, it is the only source of one Enemy Skill - can you remember which one? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Which of these innocuous and rather weak enemies found on the beaches near Costa Del Sol is well worth being on your radar as they are the only enemy to teach the wonderful Enemy Skill Big Guard? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. The Behemoth, a large purple beast with large horns, can be terribly dangerous if the fight is dragged out for long, since its Enemy Skill can deal back the damage done to it thus far, and the Flare spell is dangerous at all times. Where can you find the regular Behemoth? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. The Movers are small red bouncy balls which always appear in threes, and, despite being located in the final dungeon of the game, don't really have many skills or abilities. However, is it true or false that Movers provide more AP than EXP to the party when defeated?

Question 8 of 10
8. Magic Pots take the appearance of small gremlins which spin around in an ornamental pot - they are also met in 'Final Fantasy V' (SNES). They can award huge amounts of EXP and AP, but are invincible until which precious item is tossed at them? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Everyone loves to hunt a Dragon, but take care in doing so. In which of these locations can you find the regular green Dragon, which can really set you alight with its Flame Thrower if you don't take care? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Snow is a beautiful ice witch who resides in the Great Glacier and hates hot springs, however, she can cause the confusion status with her Fascination skill, so don't take her lightly. Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. One enemy to look out for is a floating red ball met on the ending rickety bridge at Mt. Corel. One should try to deal as much damage to it at once, since it self-destructs after a few hits, and it also appears in most, if not all other 'Final Fantasy' games. What is this fiery creature's name?

Answer: Bomb

The Bomb self-destructs after three hits, and it grows in size whilst doing so, which also allows it to use stronger attacks. At this stage of the game, the Bomb can be difficult to destroy, particularly without Level 2 Magic. However, the Shiva summon would be effective, or alternatively, one can just run away - the rickety bridge at Mt. Corel is the only place one can ever meet it, and that screen doesn't take long to pass! There are several 'blink and you'll miss them' enemies in 'Final Fantasy VII' - a good monster hunter finds them all of course.
2. This enemy takes the form of a giant floating eye with yellow skin and is met in the Northern Cave. A similar, more deadly cousin of it has appeared in 'Final Fantasy IV' (SNES), however, it can induce sadness with its Teardrop skill. Which enemy is this?

Answer: Allemagne

Allemagne can appear in a both sided encounter, and in that case, its regular claw attack becomes a little more than a nuisance and can actually be quite dangerous. If manipulated, one can get it to cast L3 Flare on itself, which, since its level is 48, a multiple of 3, will do decent damage. Note that L3 Flare is not an Enemy Skill, so don't try to learn it - there'll only be tears...

Other than Allemagne's, that is.
3. Our next enemy is rather static, and only attacks when attacked, since it hangs from the ceiling. It always appears with four Evilheads, and defeating them helps to cross the water in Gaea's Cliff. Which enemy is this?

Answer: Icicle

The Icicle really is just a blue cone hanging down from the ceiling. Fire magic is very effective on it, but it's probably best to clear off the accompanying Evilheads before they inflict Silence - wearing the two Ribbons one might have at this point or using the Added Effect + Seal materia combo on one's armour will guard against Silence. Once alone, the Icicle will chip after a few hits and eventually fall after 3000 damage is done.
4. The Midgar Zolom is a giant serpent that terrorises the swamps near the Chocobo farm. Although it can be fought early in the game, doing so unpreparedly will result in death for a novice, however, it is the only source of one Enemy Skill - can you remember which one?

Answer: Beta

Beta is a fire-based Enemy Skill hitting all enemies and doing decent damage, and the Midgar Zolom casts it once it reaches 1000 HP or less. Unfortunately at this point it may also kick your party members out of the battle, meaning learning this skill on the right person can be a pain, but the good thing is that Midgar Zolom never dies.

Not properly. So, take as many tries as you'd like - this is hard to learn at a low level, but doable with the right strategy!
5. Which of these innocuous and rather weak enemies found on the beaches near Costa Del Sol is well worth being on your radar as they are the only enemy to teach the wonderful Enemy Skill Big Guard?

Answer: Beachplug

Beachplug has a measly 200 HP and can retaliate magic attacks with the Ice spell, which is a little better than its physical attack which does little damage. The Big Guard spell applies Haste, Barrier and MBarrier to the party; whilst its MP cost of 56 is a little daunting, it is MP well spent as this skill makes bosses a lot easier (possibly a little too easy, in my opinion!).

It can be first learnt after gaining Cait Sith, who has the Manipulate materia - Manipulate is the only way to get it to cast the spell.
6. The Behemoth, a large purple beast with large horns, can be terribly dangerous if the fight is dragged out for long, since its Enemy Skill can deal back the damage done to it thus far, and the Flare spell is dangerous at all times. Where can you find the regular Behemoth?

Answer: Midgar - Sector 8

The Behemoth are a fairly uncommon enemy, so like the Bomb, if one is unlucky (or lucky from another perspective!) one may just not meet it at all. It's met on the return to Midgar late in the game, and, unlike Behemoth versions in many 'Final Fantasy' games, doesn't counter physical attacks. If anything, the 'FFVII' Behemoth is one of the more gentle ones, since it tends to die before it can cast any of its really bad spells; but that doesn't mean it won't cast them.
7. The Movers are small red bouncy balls which always appear in threes, and, despite being located in the final dungeon of the game, don't really have many skills or abilities. However, is it true or false that Movers provide more AP than EXP to the party when defeated?

Answer: True

Movers are AP batteries, and provide a whopping 800AP for materia growths. They are only found after the intersection in the Northern Cave - you must choose to go left and then take the upper exit, and they are randomly found in the swamp-like area. Movers also appear in 'Final Fantasy IX' (PSX), for example, and in that game can petrify the protagonists; so be thankful the 'Final Fantasy VII' Movers give so much gain for so little work!
8. Magic Pots take the appearance of small gremlins which spin around in an ornamental pot - they are also met in 'Final Fantasy V' (SNES). They can award huge amounts of EXP and AP, but are invincible until which precious item is tossed at them?

Answer: Elixir

Magic Pots are found in the same place as Movers - the swamp like area in the Northern Cave - making it a great place to farm both EXP and AP (particularly AP, though). They give 8000XP and 1000AP each, and can appear either alone or with another Magic Pot. Note that although the Magic Pot is pretty harmless, it can steal items from you if you mess it around too much. Either go for the jugular, or, if you don't have an Elixir, run away - there's no way of harming them without an Elixir; and both need to die to get credit (if there are two in the fight).
9. Everyone loves to hunt a Dragon, but take care in doing so. In which of these locations can you find the regular green Dragon, which can really set you alight with its Flame Thrower if you don't take care?

Answer: Mt Nibel

Note that a Dragon is also met in the storylined Kalm flashback where Cloud discusses Sephiroth's strength. In that fight, Sephiroth kills the Dragon without much effort (although he can get sidetracked into casting Life2 on young Cloud...). When the party return to Mt Nibel later in the game, they can find the Dragon starting at the section with the pipes, and it possesses a Gold Armlet, which might be worth stealing. But, don't do so at the risk of charred skin, of course.

Although its attacks can be hefty, it always appears alone and there are many ways to slow it down and soften the blows, such as the Slow spell.
10. Snow is a beautiful ice witch who resides in the Great Glacier and hates hot springs, however, she can cause the confusion status with her Fascination skill, so don't take her lightly. Which of these holy Summon Materia can you win if you talk to the Snow NPC in the right location and defeat her?

Answer: Alexander

Snow also has the rare, hard to steal Circlet - this can be stolen from any Snow, not just the one guarding Alexander. Snow is the only regular enemy to get the Boss music playing (only the one guarding Alexander, though) and, in addition to Fascination, can cast Ice2, which hurts. If one has Magic Hammer, draining her of her MP renders her useless, and this can also reduce the risk whilst attempting to steal her Circlet. Alexander is a Holy summon, and Holy type attacks tend to be rather rare - in fact, Alexander is the only magic Holy attack that can be cast in battle, so, if nothing else, is worth getting for that reason.
