Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Kongs definitely have a big family. What is the only game that has Kiddy Kong as a playable character?

Answer: Donkey Kong Country 3

Kiddy is one of the main characters in "Donkey Kong Country 3". He is Dixie Kong's baby cousin, and he accompanies her on their trip to find Donkey and Diddy. Kiddy doesn't move very fast, but he has a powerful roll attack. He can also toss Dixie up very high.
2. If you found a blue banana, you would probably think it was rotten. However, in one game, the monkeys have to pick up yellow, red, green, blue, and purple bananas. What game has multi-colored bananas?

Answer: Donkey Kong 64

The bananas are a very important part of "Donkey Kong 64". You have to pick up bananas to feed to Troff and Scoff. In turn, the pig and hippo will open the doors that lead to the boss in each level. In this game, Donkey picks up yellow bananas, Diddy finds red, Lanky gathers blue, Tiny gets purple, and green bananas are for Chunky.

The bananas in the Super Nintendo games are plain yellow.
3. The Kongs offer a number of services throughout the different games. In which game does Candy save your progress?

Answer: Donkey Kong Country

Candy Kong saves your progress in the first "Donkey Kong Country". She is Donkey Kong's girlfriend, and she lets you save your game for free. Candy didn't reappear until "Donkey Kong 64". In this game, she sells musical instruments to the Kongs to give them more attack power.
4. The monkeys have to travel through a variety of environments on their quests, some of which are very strange. Which game has levels set in giant beehives?

Answer: Donkey Kong Country 2

"Donkey Kong Country 2" has some of the most unusual levels. In this game, Diddy and Dixie have to journey through huge beehives in the three levels and one boss level. In the Krazy Kremland area, you'll find Hornet Hole, Rambi Rumble, and King Zing Sting's lair. Parrot Chute Panic is in the Gloomy Gulch area.

These must be huge beehives to have two monkeys, a rhino, and a parrot in them!
5. Which game has its own theme song, complete with lyrics?

Answer: Donkey Kong 64

I have always thought the theme song at the start of "Donkey Kong 64" was one of the coolest game features ever. During the song, Cranky is at the turn table, and Donkey, Diddy, Tiny, Lanky, and Chunky are dancing around the music. Each character has their own verse about their powers and abilities. The words are shown on the screen so players can sing along as well!
6. What is the only Kong game that does not have any levels set in a factory?

Answer: Donkey Kong Country 2

In the first "Donkey Kong Country", Donkey and Diddy have to venture through factories in Oil Drum Alley and Black Out Basement (both in the Kremkroc Industries, Inc. area). "Donkey Kong Country 3" has Fireball Frenzy, Blazing Bazukas, and Krac-shot Kroc.

The first two levels are on the industrial island of Mekanos, and the third is in the snowy mountains of K-3. "Donkey Kong 64" has Frantic Factory, which produces mean toys that chase the Kongs. There are no factory levels in "Donkey Kong Country 2".
7. Where will you find a unique friend named Parry the Parallel Bird?

Answer: Donkey Kong Country 3

Parry is only featured in "Donkey Kong Country 3", but his abilities are incredible. If you find Parry, he will fly directly above you, copying what moves Dixie or Kiddy does. Parry can pick up items overhead, but watch out for green and red Buzzes. If Parry touches them, you'll lose him. If you do get Parry to a "No Animal" sign, you will get a cool reward, possibly a 3-up balloon!
8. Which of these Kong games has no coins?

Answer: Donkey Kong Country

You won't find any coins in the first "Donkey Kong Country" because all of the services are free. In "Donkey Kong Country 2", you have to find banana coins to save your game progress, travel in Funky's plane, play Swanky's trivia games, and get tips from Cranky. Both Cranky and Wrinkly offer game tips, some of which are free, and some cost between 1-3 coins.

In "Donkey Kong Country 3", you find silver bear coins to pay Bazaar Bear and play Swanky's bonus games. All five characters pick up coins in "Donkey Kong 64" to buy potions, weapons, and musical instruments. Both Super NES games also have coins you collect for finishing a bonus level and the DK coins.
9. Which game has a steel can boss called Boss Dumb Drum?

Answer: Donkey Kong Country

In their journeys, the Kongs have to fight a number of bosses, both animals and normally inanimate objects. At the end of Kremkroc Industries, Inc., Donkey and Diddy have to defeat a steel barrel called Boss Dumb Drum. It can sense where you are on the ground, and it will try to crush you. Dumb Drum also throws out enemies. You have to defeat the enemies and avoid being smashed to finish this area.
10. What game has a first level called Jungle Japes?

Answer: Donkey Kong 64

The jungle is a very popular location in the "Donkey Kong" games. Each of these games has at least one jungle level. The first world of "Donkey Kong 64" is Jungle Japes. It is where Donkey has to set Diddy free, and the Kongs visit Funky's store for the first time. The boss at the end of Jungle Japes is Army Dillo, and Donkey has to fight it.
