Ah, if only. All the previous test subjects have scrawled on the walls 'The Cake Is A Lie'. But, as corrupt and deceiving as GLaDOS is, there is cake. Except you never get any of it.

"'Bring your daughter to work day' is the perfect time to have her tested." Tested for what exactly? I have a bit of a theory, in regards to this quote - I reckon Chell is one of these daughters, and this whole Aperture Science Computer-Aided Enrichment Activity is the test. The question is, whose daughter is she? Maybe Cave Johnson's...

Answer: "The Weighted Companion Cube is not a living thing. Make no attempt to start a conversation with it."

"While it has been a faithful companion, your companion cube cannot accompany
you through the rest of the test. If it could talk - and the Enrichment Center
takes this opportunity to remind you that it cannot - it would tell you to go

I feel sad for the Companion Cube (even though it's not alive).

Another required test protocol, from GLaDOS's point of view, would be to kill you.

GLaDOS has a bit of a fetish for neurotoxins.
So much so that she "...could take a bath in this stuff, put it on cereal, rub it right into my eyes. Honestly, it's not deadly at all...to me."

"The Enrichment Center promises to always provide safe testing environments. In
dangerous testing environments, the Enrichment Center promises to always
provide useful advice. For instance, the floor here will kill you. Try to avoid
it."
Should you become stuck in the room with the energy pellet, GLaDOS will come to the rescue. "Through no fault of the enrichment center, you have managed to trap yourself in this room. An escape hatch will open in three, two, one..."
