Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I can't help but admire the skating Shy Guys as they skate by the ice pool. However, I would strongly observe caution not to get caught by the icebergs that look surprisingly like Freezies. Which course am I talking about?

Answer: Sherbet Land (GameCube)

While there is also a Sherbet Land in "Mario Kart 64" in the Star Cup, a key factor in differentiating them is the skating Shy Guys. In addition, Sherbet Land (GameCube) has its own music, unlike Sherbet Land (N64), which shares music with Frappe Snowland (N64).
2. This throwback to "Super Mario Bros. 3" also features a spiralling tower, giant Bullet Bills and very large pits. I'd be careful about the speed of that cannon if I were you. What course is this referring to?

Answer: Airship Fortress (DS)

Aside from the course representing an airship in "Super Mario Bros. 3", the course also introduces a cannon leading to a spiralling tower. The course reappears in "Mario Kart 7" in the Lightning Cup.
3. While I did not want to be reminded of my vacation, this course allows me to relive the best part of it: flying next to a giant plane. Which aerodynamic course am I referring to?

Answer: Sunshine Airport (Wii U)

One of the more difficult courses in "Mario Kart 8", the course involves heavy amounts of maneuvering through cargo and other aircraft. If a player is lucky, they can get to the gliding sections at the same time an airplane takes off.
4. Your sweet tooth will be satisfied while riding this course; just make sure you have a clean kart. The mud can really mess up your turning. Which course am I referring to?

Answer: Choco Island 2 (SNES)

Choco Island 2 uses its background primarily seen in Chocolate Island (World 6) in "Super Mario World" (SNES). The added speed bumps and a giant chocolate (or mud) puddle near the finish line can make or break a player.
5. This appropriately arid area seems to be the perfect Egyptian paradise, if not for the Piranha Plants that bite you if you go out of bounds. Which course am I referring to?

Answer: Yoshi Desert (GBA)

The iconic Yoshi sphinx found in Yoshi Desert can also be found in "Paper Mario: Color Splash" (Wii U) as a main building. Also, Piranha Plants and quicksand pits give this course a reason to be in the Star Cup.
6. This course is one of the longest tracks in its respective game. Despite the audience presence, make sure you clear all of the jumps, or you will be set back, big time. Which early track am I referring to?

Answer: Wario Stadium (N64)

Wario Stadium is the second-longest track in "Mario Kart 64", second only to Rainbow Road (N64). It is the only track in that game which hinders a player's progress if they don't clear an important jump.
7. You know it's going to be a dangerous track when the statues are blowing fire. But wait...is that a Thwomp in a prison cell?! Name the track.

Answer: Bowser's Castle (N64)

Bowser's Castle is the final course in the Star Cup in "Mario Kart 64". The prison cell features a green Thwomp with yellow teeth, and if a kart gets close to it, the Thwomp will laugh at them.
8. This track feels more like a discotheque than a raceway, and any move you make only "turns up the music". Name the track.

Answer: Electrodrome (Wii U)

The third course in "Mario Kart 8"'s Star Cup, the gimmicks in this track are similar to that of Music Park in "Mario Kart 7". The track also includes screens of numerous dance parties, headed by a DJ resembling Larry Koopa.
9. There's an island devoted to a certain character in the Mario series. In fact, it's shaped exactly like the character. Name the track.

Answer: Yoshi Circuit (GameCube)

In the GameCube rendition of Yoshi Circuit, this track featured a hidden shortcut when a player used a Mushroom on the northern portion of the track. This was removed in its future renditions on the DS and Wii U.
10. This course reminded me of the grandfather clock I have back home. It also reminded me of a certain course in an N64 game. Can you name it?

Answer: Tick-Tock Clock (DS)

"Super Mario 64", a launch title for the Nintendo 64, contained Tick Tock Clock as one of its fifteen main levels. Aside from the track's initial release in "Mario Kart DS", it was re-released in "Mario Kart 8" for the Wii U.
