Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first scene of this episode ends in you deciding what everyone's responsibilities for the day should be. Given Badger's shaky footing with the group, it seems that everybody agrees on what his job for the day should be. If assigned to this job, group morale will increase steadily. What job is this?

Answer: Remove the bodies of the dead

Badger, not an expert on making first impressions, will ultimately do any assignment you task him to, but a small selection of them will impact the group morale to assign him to. If you assign him to remove the bodies of the dead, your group will be thrilled, thinking that the uncomfortable, degrading hard labor is fitting for the new, untrustworthy ex-bandit. If, however, you assign Badger to rest, your group will predictably be very upset, and your group allegiance score will take a hit. Assigning him to anything else will not illicit a particular reaction.
2. There will be a penalty if you are unable to repair the Cathedral entrance, secure the Alcove, or remove the undead by the end of the second day. Which of the following is an adverse effect of failing to complete one of these?

Answer: The health of the community suffers

If the Cathedral has not been totally cleaned of undead bodies, you will find an angry note in the supplies room written to you by Heather, complaining of the dwindling well being of the survivors. While the game also warns you that everyone is at risk of infection with the bodies around, you suffer no actual casualties from this.

The only thing you suffer of significance is a slight hit to your group morale and allegiance scores.
3. Later in the third day, Tom will approach you and ask you to go with Uncle Lou, as Uncle Lou is set to head out to find a monster truck set to take everyone out of the Cathedral. No matter what, the game forces you to go on this mission. Is the mission successful?

Answer: No

Unfortunately, the mission, and Uncle Lou, die out completely after a fatal accident mere moments into your mission. It seems that something was wrong with the vehicle's brakes. You find this out as your vehicle is moving at 80 MPH through a rickety bridge. Uncle Lou, desperately pressing the brakes, notes the problem shortly before you go off the road, into a river. Uncle Lou is killed on impact by a piece of the car's windshield, and you are forced to leave him and your gear behind to begin the long trek back to the Cathedral.
4. On your way back to the Cathedral, which of the following is NOT an item you can loot?

Answer: Night Vision Goggles

You can potentially loot a shotgun off of the old lady in the hut that you come across. It only has two shells, but is useful for helping to survive a zombie conflict or to save Hadley later in the adventure. You can potentially loot Hadley's backpack if you avoid conflict with the zombies harassing her or save her and put her out of her misery.

It doesn't have too much that's particularly useful, though it does have a sandwich you can choose to eat.
5. The time has come: the Zombie Exodus is here! It fittingly waited until the moment you returned from your mission, but it will wait no longer. Winning this battle is immensely difficult, should you choose to defend your Cathedral, but finding an actual reward coming off of it is arguably more difficult. What survivor is required to be alive and still with the group in order for your defense to succeed?

Answer: Tom

Tom is mandatory to survive this scene, and it is also mandatory that you have him firing at the inner doors. Tom and his signature shotgun will not let you down, provided that the rest of the group is also positioned optimally. As you may have guessed, you are also highly encouraged to warn Tom that River is trying to sneak attack him.

Otherwise, River will sink his knife into Tom's skull, and your chances at surviving the encounter drop dramatically.
6. With all the turmoil and controversy surrounding Tom, if you manage to defend the Cathedral and help him to survive, does he turn out to be innocent of his alleged wrongdoings?

Answer: No

It was Tom all along! Tom tried to get you killed in multiple ways. He wanted you gone when he sent you to the ship, he wanted you gone when he sent you to help Uncle Lou get his monster truck, and he wants you gone even after all you've been through together. You discover this in a very vulnerable state as well, as your character seems to be having a difficult time seeing straight and functioning normally.

This is because our good buddy pal Tom finally got the best of you; he poisoned the water you were drinking. Tom explains that he saw you as a threat to him, as the only person in the Cathedral stronger and more competent than he was.

He does not explain why he has such an obsessive need to be the best fitted survivor in the community, though perhaps he would've if you didn't succumb to the poison, passing out and turning into a zombie right after he explains his motives.
7. Out of all of the possible endings there are, your community suffers numerous casualties in the respective epilogues. How many people survive is dependent on your relationships with various people along with how many survivors there are in your community left surviving. Which survivor cannot die in any epilogue in the entire game?

Answer: Mindy

Mindy can end up leaving the community, but she will ultimately survive any epilogue in which she didn't die off during the final battle. You can potentially end up dying after Tom kills you with poison. However, it is not so simple; you wake up after Tom ends you as a zombie. Emma and an unnamed scientist are found to have worked on reversing the effects of the virus on you for over three months.

Unfortunately, the scientist sadly proclaims to Emma that reviving you is impossible. They ultimately shoot you in the head, killing you once and for all. Emma herself can end up being killed on the way out of the Cathedral, as she will be bittenand near-torn apart by a zombie on the way to the Temperance, with you being forced to mercy kill her. If you end up reuniting with Jeremy and settling at the military base, Eugene will pass away two years after settling in of old age and exhaustion.
8. If you managed to prevent Carl from killing Jason, one of the possible endings can involve you reuniting with Jason. Which ending is this?

Answer: Two

This is a tricky ending to arrive on! You must keep Jason alive, leave the Cathedral, and you must have intelligence, strength and dexterity scores of 25 or more. In addition, you must have had at least a 60 relationship score with Jason. If you managed to meet this criteria, you will meet Jason after leaving the Cathedral, and he will take you to live with him on a small town called Baytown, which has been cleared of zombies and is defensible.
9. Karma at its finest, there is a way you can come upon a text error, which will force you to start the entire chapter over. (Un)fortunately, Choice Games seems to have never written the scene that can be found by doing a very specific, heinous deed. What will trigger this mechanical error?

Answer: Leaving all the survivors to die on the catwalk, escaping the Cathedral alone

If the survivors on ground level have all been killed, the game will force you to leave the Cathedral. At this rate, you can choose to provide cover fire while everyone gets down from the catwalk, or you can leave them behind, sealing their fate. If you were truly inhumane enough to leave everyone behind, you will emerge out of the Cathedral.

At this point, a text error will occur and it will halt your progress, forcing you to restart the entire chapter. It is almost definitely a mistake by Choice Games, but given that they have begun to develop "Zombie Exodus 2: Safe Haven", they have already stated that they will not be addressing anymore errors or issues entailed in this edition of the game.
10. Emma ultimately gets bitten by a zombie in a number of potential endings. However, it's not curtains for her just yet, as she can be saved. Which of the following is NOT one of the ways possible to save Emma?

Answer: Amputating the affected area

Prayer and vaccine are tricky endings to reach. For prayer, you must be a priest, and you must aggree with/believe in everything Eugene says when he suggests he's been talking to God. In addition to this, your relationship score with Eugene must be above 60, you must kill off Tom (ideally after the Zombie Exodus) and you must remain at the Cathedral. For the vaccine, it's even trickier. You must be a scientist, have examined every possible odor/substance throughout the entire story, you have to actually have developed the vaccine, you need Devlin in your group, and you have to have eliminated Tom in addition to remaining at the Cathedral.
