Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. After waking up and being assigned your mission, you begin to prepare to head out with Mindy. Where are you going and what are you doing?

Answer: Going to the Temperance to get medicinal supplies

Unlike when Tom asks you to go on the search party in Episode One, you do not have a chance to duck out of this mission. Telling Tom you would rather not go will simply result in Tom and the rest of the community pressuring you into agreeing to go, which the game forces you to follow.

This also lowers your relationship score with the entire community by five, in addition to slightly lowering your morality score. You and Mindy head into Temperance, given that medicine is very, very low on supply. On the way, you have the opportunity to talk to Mindy about her life pre-apocalypse, although doing this does nothing to affect any particular score, does nothing of particular benefit, and is only good for players who wish to learn more about Mindy.
2. Later in the episode, it is discovered that one of the cathedral survivors is suffering from a debilitating mental illness. What is the illness?

Answer: Schizophrenia

The medicine is for Emma, much to your surprise. Eugene, if you tell him the Respirdal is for Emma, will say he hopes Emma is well, but notes that Respirdal can only treat, and not cure, this disease. If you try to discuss this with Emma after returning to the cathedral, she will immediately stop hugging you and will defend herself, on the basis that she has things in her head, but the illness is not terribly debilitating. During this discussion, you first see how Emma's mental health has truly suffered since entering the cathedral originally.
3. The subject of the Zombie Exodus is brought up for the first time the next morning. What exactly is the Zombie Exodus?

Answer: When the zombies run out of humans and animals to feed on, they will migrate and travel the Earth until finding more food.

The Zombie Exodus, a theory first crafted by Jason, has plenty of merit to it. This merit is backed up by observation of zombies by the others in the field: as time goes on, more zombies appear in the city around the cathedral. This is because other areas outside of the city have run out of humans and animals, forcing the zombies to migrate. Jason theorizes that the zombies will eventually swarm Temperance and, when they discover that there is no more food there, will attack the cathedral with a truly fearsome horde.

The idea of the Zombie Exodus prompts the community to consider whether or not to leave the cathedral while they have the chance.
4. After discussing the Zombie Exodus with you, Tom will send you off to go on a supplies run. The cathedral community is critically low on food supplies, and Tom wants you to fix this. Who does Tom send with you to help you on the run?

Answer: Javier

Javier suggests to Tom that searching supermarkets is pointless, as they have all been picked clean by other survivor communities. Javier suggests that a military outpost to the south be checked on, as it has been left largely untouched since the beginning of the Apocalypse, and would likely have supplies that would have been used by human soldiers before the Apocalypse.

After suggesting this, Tom asks Javier to go to the outpost with you.
5. Entering "shutdown" (case sensitive) into the computer in the outpost will cause a scent to be released into the computer room you are in. This scent is poisonous gas, and will kill you unless you managed to find an item beforehand. What is the item?

Answer: Gas mask

You can only pick up the gas mask as you enter the depot. It is really quite simple: the gas mask is just sitting right on top of a staircase, and all you have to do is grab it and you'll be fine when this scenario happens. If you do not, however, this gas will kill you and force you to restart from your last checkpoint. Don't worry, there's no catch - picking up the gas mask does not force you to do anything to accommodate it.

Therefore, even if you do not plan to hit the shutdown command, picking up the gas mask, at worst, simply ends up taking a tiny bit of time to do.
6. After a while in the depot, you come upon the storage room. It is full of zombies, but killing them is not hard, as these zombies are very decomposed and put up no fight. After discovering the excessive amounts of supplies in the storage room, the phone from the computer room begins to ring. Upon picking it up, you find that a man by the name of Colin, claiming to represent a military group, calls you. What will happen if you tell him the exact location of the outpost?

Answer: A team of soldiers will show up and try to kill you

There is very little context to this military group, and this is the only scenario where they are ever mentioned or explored in the entire game, regardless of what happens. If you tell Colin where your location is, soldiers will show up, and they are not friendly.

In fact, once they enter, you distinctly hear one of them say, "Let's just kill this guy and get out of here." Before this happens, the game will ask you if you think the soldiers are friendly or hostile. If you choose friendly, your character will wait for them, only to be killed instantly as they arrive without any warning, forcing you to restart the game from the previous checkpoint. If you select the hostile option, you then have the opportunity to set traps for their arrival. However, you will not win the conflict unless you selected military for a profession, forcing you to return to your last checkpoint. Of course, you can always just leave the outpost before the soldiers turn up, with no penalty. If you do not tell Colin exactly where you are, the soldiers never show up, which is also an option for non-military professions.
7. What happens the morning after your supplies run?

Answer: Javier turns into a zombie

Javier ultimately turns from the wounds he suffered at the depot. Surprisingly, Javier takes a lot longer to turn than most humans in the apocalypse have. As you wake up, you find that Javier attacked and nearly killed, Candace, who was saved by Carl.
8. As Emma's mental state seems to become more and more of an issue, it seems as though Emma has a newly acquired imaginary friend. What is Emma's new friend's name?

Answer: Cassie

Cassie is mentioned many more times throughout the course of the story. Cassie even saves you from death later on in the final episode. However, Cassie does not actually exist, and Emma's frequent references to Cassie later in the season only prove as a reminder that Emma is clearly not well.
9. The next day, it is discovered that the group is now critically low on fuel. Jason's research of the area has pinpointed one location that still has plenty of fuel - an abandoned ship with a chock-full oil refinery. After you agree to go on the mission, the subject of who will be accompanying you on this treacherous mission comes up. Who is coming with you onto the ship?

Answer: Nobody

Carl does drive you to this ship inside a small boat, but he does not actually accompany you onto the ship itself. Tom does not allow anyone to join you on this expedition, citing safety concerns and the lack of ability to tie a second survivor into the daylong mission.

This displeases Heather, Mindy (if you are in a relationship with one of them) or Emma. Heather, if you are in a relationship with her, will be particularly animated at expressing her displeasure, yelling at Tom and blasting him for not sending anyone with you.
10. As you make your triumphant return with gallons and gallons of fuel on hand, you come upon an alarming sight at the entrance of the cathedral. What's going on?

Answer: Two unknown people are trying to get into the cathedral

The chapter ends before the duo is introduced, but if you do not instantly kill them, they will identify themselves as River and Starr. Seeking refuge, they have come to the cathedral, offering help in the form of working hands and supplies in exchange for protection and a place to live. If you kill them immediately, your morality score takes a gargantuan hit, but this also prevents them from introducing themselves.

This does not effect anything other than your morality score, but it does change the way Carl acts towards you slightly, as he will question whether or not you actually had to kill them.
