Upon the death of Zachary Taylor in 1850, Fillmore became president.

Herbert Hoover was the only president to reach this plateau. He was 90 at the time of his death.

Six presidents were christened James. Monroe, Madison, Polk, Garfield and Buchanan used the name during their presidency. The sixth is Jimmy Carter, who was christened James.
