1. Andrew Jackson was very similar to other presidents in that he had a pet. He was able to purchase a pet in New Orleans during the time that he served in the War of 1812. Name the type of animal that Jackson was able to take to the White House.

Answer: Parrot

Jackson's parrot was purchased in New Orleans. He would teach the parrot to curse. Upon his death, the parrot was released and flew very close to the open grave. He would squawk out the curse words that the President had taught him and flew away. His name was 'Poi'.

Answer: John Sevier

The Sevier-Jackson feud arose as result of the 1810 military elections. Tennessee was still a frontier state, and the army was still under state jurisdiction. The postion was granted to Jackson, who was from Middle Tennessee and afterwards Jackson made known to Governor Archibald Roane that Sevier had made some possible fraudulent land deals after the Revolutionary War.

Jackson would recognize the Texans' right to freedom, but did not send a military force to protect them.

Answer: Elizabeth

The Jacksons migrated to America from Ireland. Elizabeth raised three boys including the 7th President of the United States. She died of cholera in 1781, contracted while nursing American prisoners at a Camden POW camp.

Answer: twenty dollar bill

Jackson balanced the budget, but many critics would say it resulted a mini-depression during the Martin Van Buren administration.

Answer: Hugh

Hugh was mortally wounded in the Battle of Camden(Revolution). His "middle" brother Robby Jackson caught smallpox at the POW camp and it proved to be fatal.

Benton shot the future president and the bullet was removed during Jacksons presidency. Jackson gave the bullet back to Hart who jokingly said "you have had it longer than I have".

Both Andrew and Robby were imprisoned. Andrew was slashed by a British officer. Robby passed away from smallpox after returning home.

Camden was the main POW camp in South Carolina. Many a patriot died there of plague and starvation.
10. James Monroe considered Jackson as an Ambassador to this country.

Answer: Russia

Jefferson persuaded Monroe and John Calhoun to make him a Major-General. Monroe and Calhoun decided not make him ambassador, to avert a confrontation with Kasaks. Jackson became a Major-General after the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, which was before the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812.
