This castle was built by Ludwig II in 1886. It is located in Upper Bavaria, Germany, near the Swiss border. The king paid for this palace out of his private funds and was intended to be his private home. He died in 1886 and the castle was opened to the public shortly after.

One of the largest castles in Europe, the Prague castle in the Czech Republic is also one of the oldest. Construction on this building started around 870 and was finished in 1929. The Bohemian Crown Jewels are kept within a hidden room inside it.

Kronborg Castle is known as the castle in "Hamlet", Elsinore. The castle is located at the northern tip of the island of Zealand in Denmark. The castle dates to the 1420's. It has been open to the public since 1938. The other three choices are in Brazil.
