Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these major London railway stations is NOT served by the London Underground's Bakerloo line?

Answer: Euston

The "Baker Street and Waterloo" Railway served Waterloo from the beginning and was later extended to Marylebone, Paddington and beyond. Euston isn't very far from Marylebone - above ground, both are on what was the 18th century "New Road" - but the Bakerloo line heads south into the West End instead.
2. Which of these London Underground stations is NOT at the end of a branch of the District line?

Answer: Morden

Morden is at the southern end of the Northern line. The station opened in 1926 in what was then a rural area. It is the southernmost station on the London Underground network, although it is much closer to Wimbledon than the traditional topological tube map implies.
3. Which of these "colourful" London Underground stations is NOT on the Central line?

Answer: Blackhorse Road

Blackhorse Road station is on the Victoria line in northeast London, near the terminus at Walthamstow Central. It is also on London Overground's Gospel Oak to Barking line, which is informally known as the GOBLIN.
4. Which of these "Cans" is NOT on the London Underground's Jubilee line?

Answer: Cannon Street

Cannon Street is on the Circle and District lines. However, early plans for the Jubilee line (then to be called the Fleet line) proposed a different route that would have included a station at Cannon Street.
5. Which of these "tons" is NOT on the London Underground's Victoria line?

Answer: East Acton

East Acton station is on the Central line in west London. The Acton area has lots of stations. East, West and North Acton are on the Central line. Acton Town is on the District and Piccadilly lines. South Acton and Acton Central are stations on the London Overground network. Acton Main Line is a National Rail station on the Great Western main line.
6. Which of these "aristocratic" London Underground stations is NOT on the Piccadilly line?

Answer: Kingsbury

Kingsbury station is on the Jubilee line in northwest London near Wembley. Kingsbury and nearby stations opened as part of the Metropolitan line in 1932, became part of the Stanmore branch of the Bakerloo line in 1939 and then became part of the Jubilee line when that opened in 1979.
7. Which of these "hams" is NOT on the London Underground's Metropolitan line?

Answer: Balham

Balham station is on the Northern line in south London. Balham became popularly known as the "Gateway to the South" thanks to a 1950s comedy sketch, parodying the style of travel documentaries, that made it appear far more exotic than the reality. The sketch is best known in a version narrated by Peter Sellers, although it was not originally written for him.
8. Which of these "shapes" is NOT a station on the London Underground's Northern line?

Answer: Hatton Cross

Hatton Cross is on the Piccadilly line near Heathrow airport. It is named after a crossroads on an old coaching route. The station is on the edge of the airport and has temporarily played important roles during various phases of extending London Underground services into the heart of the airport itself.
9. Which "regal" London Underground station is NOT on the Hammersmith and City line?

Answer: Barkingside

Barkingside station is on the Central line on the London/Essex border near Ilford. The children's charity Barnardo's was founded in Barkingside in 1866 by Thomas John Barnardo.
10. Which "Street" is NOT a station on the London Underground's Circle line?

Answer: Warren Street

Warren Street station is on the Northern and Victoria lines. It was originally called Euston Road. Euston Square station (which is on the Circle line) is nearby, as is University College Hospital.
