Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Yamaha is well known for its fast R6 and flying R1. What other 'YZF-R' have too few had the pleasure to drive with?

Answer: R7

It's the iconic R7. Although the figures of this 1999 bike may not be impressive to today's standards, the R7 is pretty hard to catch up with on the track. With its 106bhp coming from its 750cc engine, the R7 rocks its breathtaking chassis and suspension.
2. Suzuki's range of sports bikes is one of the best in class. The whole range is known as GSX-R followed by the number corresponding with the number of cc's. What name is used by bikers when talking about these fantastic bikes?

Answer: Gixxer

It's not a Jesus-R although this massive bike can probably drive on water. No, it's a gixxer and I am the happy owner of a K5 track bike!
3. In Moto GP, Aprilia has dominated the smaller 125cc and 250cc classes for years. On the road, most bikers favour the heavier 1000R. Which model is the more exclusive version of the 1000R?

Answer: 1000R Factory

It's the 1000R Factory. It has the same engine as the regular 1000R, but is equipped with better parts like Öhlins suspension.
4. KTM recently launched a sports bike. This is a major affair for the Austrians, more known for their cross, enduro and trail bikes. What is the name of this Austrian blitz?

Answer: RC8

It's the RC8. Check out the specs, this should be awesome. The duke is a fiercesome naked bike. The 990 Adventure is a stunning enduro bike. And the Q1000 is, well, I made that one up.
5. Italy is the Mecca of sports bikes. The bikes from the land of the rising sun are definitely as good, but that design... Which of these brands is NOT an Italian manufacturer of sports bikes?

Answer: Malaguti

Malaguti is Italian AND regularly competing in the 125cc class. But one can't buy a Malaguti sports bike. Only mopeds and cross bikes. Bimota, Mondial & Cagiva will pleasure your greed for bhp.
6. Honda has its CBR range for decades now. The brilliantly manoeuvrable CBR600RR and of course the great CBR1000RR. The CBR600RR is just the CBR600RR. But by what name do we know the 1000RR better?

Answer: Fireblade

It's the classic Fireblade. This one may lack the adrenaline rush delivered by its Yamaha, Kawasaki & Suzuki competitors, but the handling of this bike is phenomenal. The 2008 version will stun us. Maybe I'll trade in my road legal 600RR for it.
7. There an interesting sports bike from England manufactured by Triumph. It has three cylinders and is called the Daytona. How many cc's does this unique bike have?

Answer: 675

Each cylinder has a 225cc capacity providing a total of 675 cc's.
8. The raw Kawasaki range is best known as the Ninja. What alphabetical description is used by Kawasaki to pinpoint their green meanies?

Answer: ZX-R

It's the ZX-R. Sad enough I wrecked my ZX-10R after just two months. What tragedy... The ZZR is the range of sports tourers. The GPZ is a blast from the past; an icon from 2-stroke days. The YZF-R is Yamaha territory.
9. Casey Stoner gave Ducati it's first Moto GP victory in 2007. This Bologna based brand has made top-of-the-wishlist bikes for decades. Recently they launched a bike which one will probably never see on the road and most certainly won't drive it as it will rock your wallet. What is the name of the most exclusive and expensive bike from the Italians?

Answer: Desmosedici RR

It's the Desmosedici RR, a 4-cylinder Goliath. There's just one girl that I wouldn't trade in for this one (dude, I have my soft side too). Nevertheless, the 1098R has not been released yet, but will be the top of the bill version of the 'diece novan totto' or 1098. And that is already an outstanding piece of work.

The 998R is Massimo Tamburetti's masterpiece. Maybe not the best bike ever, but definitely the best looking one. The 851SP has become a collectors item. It's as old as your granny, but I reckon it'll surprise you on a track day.
10. We've had all sports bikes and brands that are worth mentioning (a bit tricky to claim probably). So let's finish off with spare parts. Which of the brands is NOT a manufacturer of exhausts for your precious ones?

Answer: Puig

Puig is a manufacturer of racing screens. Akrapovic is a Slovakian manufacturer of brilliant spare parts including exhausts. Laser is famous for their hotcam system. And Yoshimura makes exhausts that produce so many db's, most bikers don't use it on track days.
