Answer: Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station

This is the name of the Area communication station that controls communications for the 4 AOR for the Navy. They are 3 in todays world, Norfolk Va, Naples Itlay, and Hawaii.
2. What is a Romeo Mike?

Answer: Radioman

Although they are IT's now, we were and always will be RMs. RMs/ITs are responsible for communications going off the ship.
3. What do the letters BT stand for in a Naval Message?

Answer: Break Transmission

Used when typing a message on a TTY circuit or on a message telling this is the text of the message, and the end of the message.
4. What color of document cover is used for Top Secret messages?

Answer: Orange

Red is Secret
Blue is Confidential
Yellow is not used.
5. What is another name for a satellite antenna (shipboard) OE 82s?

Answer: Trash Can

The antennae are shaped like half a trash can, and have a auto-correct gyro in them to track the satellite while the ship was moving.
6. What year did NAVCAMS finish changing designation to NCTAMS?

Answer: 1991

In 1991, all NAVCAMS names were changed to NCTAMS. This was done because of the addition of computers to Navy Communications. Some stations switched designation a little earlier, but it was all done by 1991.
7. How many NCTAMS are there world wide?

Answer: 3

This is tricky. There are 3; Hawaii, Atlantic, and the Med. Guam used to have a NCTAMS but due to down-sizing, it was changed to a NAVCOMTELSTA in the late 90's. So there are 3 NCTAMS covering the 4 AOR's.
8. What does NAVCOMTELSTA officially stand for?

Answer: Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station

These units fall under NCTAMS. They are located world wide and have importance to the local Navy operations. At last count, there were
9 Alantic, 3 Med, 6 Pacfic.
9. What is a RAYDAY?

Answer: Radio Day

Radio Day is when a Radioman changes all the logs to start a new day, this is done at 0001Z may not be the new day in the time zone the ship is in, but in communications, all things are on a Zulu hour for consistency.
10. ZULU time starts where?

Answer: Greenwich, England

Greenwich is the world clock location. All military Zulu time is set off this clock.
