OK, I gave in and have submitted a quiz on "To Serve Them All My Days" by R. F. Delderfield. The book lends itself to several quizzes and I have now reread it several times with that in mind. Reply #162. Apr 30 16, 5:16 AM |

I bought a copy of "On a Pale Horse" by Piers Anthony with the idea of writing a quiz, but got waylaid, bought the other six books and read them too. Now I discover that there was a much later addition. Maybe one day! Reply #165. Sep 05 16, 2:45 AM |

I checked the Cornish Trilogy out of the library, and am now a little over halfway through "What's Bred in the Bone." It's very different from what I usually read, but I'm enjoying it! I have started writing a few questions, but most of the quizwriting will have to wait until I've seen how the rest of the book unfolds... Reply #167. Nov 23 16, 4:28 PM |

I'm glad you're enjoying it. There really is nobody else like Robertson Davies - he uses a measured, almost Victorian prose to say the most outrageous things. Reply #168. Nov 27 16, 3:50 PM |

I'm considering picking up a copy of The Chrysalids this coming month for this challenge. Hmmm... Reply #169. Nov 29 16, 12:34 AM |

At long last I've submitted a quiz for "What's Bred in the Bone." My library carried the entire trilogy in a single volume, so I read the whole thing. I can definitely second agony's recommendation -- it's a very dense, rich, and often hilarious set of books -- but it does show its age in a few places. In particular, as a 2010s faculty type, I was stunned at how many professors were falling for and/or seducing their students in this 1980s college ... Reply #170. Dec 11 16, 10:54 PM |

Excellent book (I mean "The Fifth Season")! I read it a few months ago, so I might have a go at it after the holidays. Reply #174. Dec 18 16, 8:41 AM |

I read "The Handmaid's Tale" over twenty years ago. Maybe I will go back and reread "On a Pale Horse" instead. Reply #178. Sep 17 17, 5:02 PM |
