Subject: El Dorado mini-badge: Help Needed

Posted by: Buddy1
Date: Nov 02 14

There is a new mini-badge called El Dorado which is basically a riddle. For this challenge, we can have a partner; however, no one in my team is working on it--they hardly do riddles. It has been suggested that I post a message here to see if there is anyone working on the mini-badge but does not have a partner.

How about it? Anyone want to help me?

I think I read somewhere that it takes 2 correct answers to be able to rate a quiz. I think when Terry said "low" counts, then two should be enough (I think). (I think I say "I think" too much, haha)

Thanks - now I have noticed you were talking about it in the previous page, sorry for my ignorance.

Jolana, it's okay. Hunting for El Dorado tends to overload our brains.

Actually I want to find a partner if anyone is still free.

Starting this challenge today. Last week I finally finished "The Riddle", so it's time for a new brain twist. Let the madness begin!

First, I apologize if I'm bumping a somewhat-older thread (it was last posted to three months ago) -- though per the board guidelines, I wanted to avoid making an effectively duplicate thread. ... Anyway, as I've understood that two players may work together on "El Dorado," I wondered if anyone would like to pair up.

I'm not frankly sure what to make of most of the "clues" built into the challenge text. Some riddles I'm good at ... others, not so much.

Uh, bear with me just a little; this is only my second time on the Category Chat Boards, and I'm not exactly the best conversationalist you ever met. I'm a bit tangent-prone, as I think I'm proving as I speak.

Anyway, if anyone would like to pair up for the mini-challenge, I'm a reply (or Note) away.

Couple of questions:
1) is there somewhere to sign up as a partnership? I have a potential partner (different team than mine)

2) from what I read on the thread, it seems that as you progress, green lettering starts to appear a bit at a time, is that correct? I'm at 0% (not started yet, but none of my challenge poem is in green)

I got this from a reply on Jan 6 2015, March 2 1015 and March 3 2015....

You don't need to sign up anywhere, you're able to decide to be a partnership and then go for it.

As you solve bits of the puzzle, the relevant part of the verse will go green to show which bits you've done and which are still incomplete.

Good luck! Parts of this puzzle are easier than others so remember when you get to the difficult bits - tearing your hair out is allowed but may lead to baldness. ;)

Thank you for your quick response Flospymopsy... I will take it under advisement... not tearing of hair for me... Halloween challenge was difficult enough... especially due to the time constraint imposed.

Don't worry about how long you take while doing the El Dorado hunt. People have been searching for El Dorado for centuries.

My partner did a particular quiz and got her first 5%...I did the same quiz and got nothing for it :(

I did mine in HTML (take your time mode) because I know absolutely nothing about John Wayne or westerns (despise them). I'm not sure what mode she used, awaiting her reply.

It doesn't matter what mode you play a quiz in to get credit for El Dorado.

There are quizzes that count for the badge and quizzes that have almost the same title and are on the same subject that don't count for the quiz.

Please be careful about posting clues as to what specific quizzes you've taken. On other words, don't post them. Your post might end up being edited or deleted.

sorry Mirajane... thought the post was general enough not to raise eyebrows... will be more vigilant in the future...I got the credit for the quiz the next day...frustrating!

Feel like I have just fallen down the rabbit hole with this thread. What on Earth is the "Eldorado Challenge"?

It is the last challenge listed in level 8
hope that helps, EnglishJedi!

Does anyone know when the El Dorado challenge first appeared on FT? I know it wasn't part of the first set up, but added on afterwards. A year at least, could be helpful.

Thanks you!
