Kudos to the powers that be for coming up with another enjoyable game that makes F.T an even more attractive place to "hang".

Why do guests have to be shown in the listing for the featured game at all? Only the top 50 is listed (200 on the quiz page link) - it would be nice to see members' names instead of umpteen "guests" filling those spots.

Guests are listed on the scores of every topic mash. (No, I'm not calling them mixed quizzes.) Since the topic of the day is the only Duel that shows all the top scores, it makes sense guest scores would be shown.

Well the list is filtered the day a topic is featured as the topic of the day. Only those days results show for 24 hours.

For my two cents, it seems to be a bit of a non issue. If it is a broad topic...the guests will eventually be largely lost in the pile as the earlier (and subsequent) results are added back in the next day..
And for obscure topics, I doubt the 0-5 people who have ever played the mash before much care.

On the other hand, if the out of sight out of mind effect squelches the periodic whine about the fishiness of the mass of guest plays, maybe the time needed to alter the results so the guests dont present on the top 50 and/or 200 would not be a blatently frivolous pursuit after all.

It makes no sense to exclude them. Guests become members. Guests do tell their friends about whatever quizzes they found here and liked. Their friends become guests. Those friends become members.

Guest scores are included on quizzes. Are those supposed to disappear too?

Some people that have rabbits as pets or raise rabbits found the blurb highlighting bunny day and played the topic of the day. They had fun. They told their friends about how informative and fun it was. The friends played. We saw their scores. Many of them did better than the registered players. Big deal.

The next day the great big Internet world wasn't interested in our topic of the day. The world kept spinning. Volunteers in Mexico kept digging for children under a crushed school. People in the Carribean still worried where they are going to live a year from now, if they are going to have sanitation within the next six months, or clean water. Electricity will be a luxury.

Let's worry about something important besides seeing the scores of visitors to FunTrivia, okay?

I have a pet rabbit (and also had two in the past) but still lost the rabbit game :( It wasn't enough to know just about my own rabbits).

I would say that a population of people who spend hours, days and weeks of their life playing on a site called Funtrivia for millions of virtual points are probably incredibly unlikely to take the advice of thinking about something more important!

Please do not give details on the Chat boards on how to get past the scoring system for any game. It may well be the case that's what some people have been doing but the way to cure the problem is not to give details so that other people can do it. Go to the Forums, in the Feedback system say that you think you've discovered a way that people can get round the Duel scoring system and offer to provide details in a private message on the forums to WesleyCrusher or to Terry - then do that when asked.

In addition there's no reason to be rude to other players.

This is really a non-point. The only place where these top scores matter is the Master Masher badgelet. As scores remain on the list only for a limited time (30 days I think), at the worst a handful of categories is affected at any one time out of the over 10,000 you can use to get your required daily wins.

As some said here, guests become members. If them ranking highly on a daily topic makes them stay, great. We gained a member.

I will also make this clear here once and for all: Guest playing DOES NOT give players an advantage they could not get legitimately and, usually, more easily, especially on an obscure topic.

If you want to prepare for a given duel topic, you can go to the category and play the quizzes there, on your real account, scoring points in the process. You'll see each question once, you'll be able to peruse and study them at your leisure.

Preparing through guest play is a very different thing to the reload cheat we have now blocked. The reloading cheat allowed people to make as many scoring attempts as they wished. Get a question wrong? Reload until you flawlessly answer all 10.

Guest playing does not do this. It allows you to see the questions, but it does not give you several tries at the game. It is the same as studying for an exam and on all but the largest categories it is a rather inefficient way to do so compared to simply playing the quizzes.

To the players who found it necessary to rudely lash out at each other with comments like "it's WAY past your bedtime!" - be aware I did note down your names. You will not receive a personal warning message, but you can and should consider this an official warning as well.

I expect this thread to be free from such comments in the future or it will be locked.

Does this ever happen to anyone?

If I know the answer is the first one on the list, I have a hard time getting that one to "click" with my wireless optic mouse. I'm playing on my laptop, in bed (don't ask) but it doesn't seem to matter where I play, hitting that first question as my answer never "clicks" the first time, or sometimes not even the second time, taking precious seconds off my score.

Any idea why this happens? Does it happen to anyone else? Is there a cure, or am I just stuck? I've tried everything I can think of -- it just doesn't like Answer No. 1, even though I do.

P.S. Oh boy....

I missed all the drama in here. I didn't start it, and I didn't participate in it! I am now living in a Drama Free Zone!

I'm not asking anyone to help me beat the system, at all! I'm just asking if anyone else has a problem getting that first question to roll out to actually "click"?

Playing every quiz in a topic with very few quizzes is great advice, Wes. I've done that.

I also now realize that the only time I see "Guest" is when I play a Topic Mash, not in Duels. Maybe they show up there, but I've never seen them. I'm usually moving to my next topic, while hoping I don't get beaten by a Bot!

Blackdress. I've a wired optical mouse. That only happens to me if I try to click too fast on the first option before all 4 options have fully rolled out. Getting it right it not always about just being fast but about timing it right.I find it hard to consistently time it so that I get a maximum score each time, even if I feel I know the answers before they roll out but that's just a matter of timing and co-ordination. I wonder if musicians are the best at getting it right consistently.

P.S Because musicians would be good at keeping the right rhythm for a perfect score (provided they knew the answers).

I get that 1st option problem. I learnt it is trying to click too early that does it.

Less haste, more speed I guess!

A conundrum presents itself. If I know the answer, and I see the answer, of course I want to click on that answer! And, I'm musical, but my rhythm is all off? Say it ain't so!

I've tried clicking above it, below it, right on it, it doesn't seem to matter. If I don't know the answer, and wait for them all to roll out, if it's the first answer, it still never "takes" on the first click.

Maybe it's my mouse, but what if it's... *gasp!* ... ME?

Did you try a new battery? For the mouse that is, not you!

"I also now realize that the only time I see "Guest" is when I play a Topic Mash, not in Duels. Maybe they show up there, but I've never seen them."

Part of the reason for this may be that the results list only shows up on the topic of the day when playing a duel topic.

Yep, tried a new battery, many times!

I've tried a wired optic mouse, too. Same thing. I can't and won't play on my Etch-A-Sketch mousepad, though. That thing is the devil! I disable that.

Here is another thing... I play everything I can in "Quiz Mode," so it's not just in Duels that this happens with the first answer to roll out. I just like to play fast, so Quiz Mode it is, and if I want to read the info, and I generally do, I just click on "Display Entire Quiz" when I'm finished and go back to read.

I'm baffled. It almost has to be "me," doesn't it? We're running out of possibilities!

P.S. You're right, Answerman! I don't mind seeing Guests, I now realize. They aren't competing against me in Duels, they're just there. Kind of like "Ghosts."

I do get stubborn answers every now and again that take a double click. I am pretty sure it is not restricted by question number or answer position so, it probably isn't exactly the same thing.

Now that you mention this though I hadn't really thought about it but it does seem to only happen when on the computer not on the mobile so it is probably still something hardware specific.
