Now THERE is a scoreline I definitely didn't see coming! All credit to Sweden, they have taken Mexico apart.....3-0 in no way flatters them. Reply #386. Jun 27 18, 9:40 AM |

..........and talking of unexpected scorelines.............I wonder what the Bookies odds would have been before the World Cup started for Germany to finish bottom of their group, beaten by South Korea and eliminated ? Mexico thus survive..........Lpez take a stiff shot of Tequila with the water, you likely need it! Reply #389. Jun 27 18, 10:12 AM |

I was busy today and couldn't watch the matches. What a shock to find Germany out and bottom of the Group and Mexico lost. Reply #391. Jun 27 18, 11:02 AM |

It goes to show that you can't take anything for granted in this tournament. Things can change so fast. I hope England doesn't flop tomorrow against Belgium. Reply #392. Jun 27 18, 11:41 AM |

A summarized version of yesterday's recap to have more time to write today's. Today's Games Denmark 0-0 France A complete lack of respect to fans. It was a boring, goal-less draw with no emotions whatsoever. Both teams played not to lose, and now both teams are in. Australia 0-2 Peru I'm happy for Peru, since they achieved a dignified goodbye from the tournament. Had they not missed so many chances in their first two matches, especially against Denmark, they would likely be through the next stage. A good effort by Peru, Australia not so much. Nigeria 1-2 Argentina and Iceland 1-2 Croatia Well, Argentina achieved a miracle with the help of Messi and Rojo. Nigeria couldn't remain consistent and was eliminated. Croatia finished with a perfect group stage, good job by them. Either way, I can't see Argentina defeating France (although France isn't playing very well either.) Today's Refs Brazilian Sandro Ricci and Russian Sergey Karasev had no major issues with their matches. In Nigeria v Argentina, Turkish Cuneyt Cakir did an OK job I think, though he was criticized for many of his decisions. Spaniard Mateu Lahoz had no trouble either. A silent day for refs, which is good. Today's Facts - Denmark v France, 37th match of the World Cup, became the first 0-0 in Russia 2018. - Lionel Messi scored Argentina's first goal, and also the 100th goal of Russia 2018. Interestingly, Iniesta scored the 100th goal in South Africa 2010, and Neymar in 2014. All three players played for Barcelona when they did this. - Nigeria and Argentina have played against each other in World Cups five times. Argentina has won them all. What's Next Wednesday June 27: Mexico vs Sweden, 8am FST REFEREE: Nestor Pitana (ARG) Wednesday June 27: South Korea vs Germany, 8am FST REFEREE: Mark Geiger (USA) Wednesday June 27: Serbia vs Brazil, 12pm FST REFEREE: Alireza Faghani (IRN) Wednesday June 27: Switzerland vs Costa Rica, 12pm FST REFEREE: Clement Turpin (FRA) Saturday June 30: France vs Argentina, 8am FST Sunday July 1: Croatia vs Denmark, 12pm FST Today's Questions None today. Just to note that S Korea's 2 goals against Germany were both in injury time, adding to the proliferation of late goals in this tournament. Reply #397. Jun 27 18, 12:47 PM |
