Things could Messi for Iceland if he and his team mates play well. And Lpez, I'll be supporting Mexico against Germany on Monday morning, our time. Reply #81. Jun 16 18, 1:14 AM |

Iran had only ever won once at a World Cup, in 98. I suspect it was against another weak side, perhaps Japan? Obviously I haven't looked it up because that is probably wrong! I too am looking forward to Argentina Iceland, will probably be just highlights for me though as the only game I'm likely to be able to see today is Croatia vs Nigeria. I still think Spain will be fine. As I said in forums, 9 times out of 10 they win that game. Who knows, we could watch that game again on July 15th. If you are looking for omens, didn't Portugal have a 3-3 draw in the group stage of Euro 2016? It wasn't the first game, but still... Reply #82. Jun 16 18, 1:16 AM |

I decided to look up Iran's 1998 World Cup win, it was against USA. Iran beat them 2-1 but neither side progressed to the knockout stage. Reply #84. Jun 16 18, 1:19 AM |

These video reviews spoil everything. And he played for that penalty, it's the one thing I've always hated about footballers, those histrionic dives. Penalty for Australia. Poetic justice. 1-1. Reply #88. Jun 16 18, 5:19 AM |

Not a very good display of refereeing. Some very suspect decisions. And when you consider the difference in quality players, on paper at least, between the two teams, it wasn't a particularly convincing victory by France. I don't fancy their chances of progressing beyond the quarter finals, if they make it that far. Reply #91. Jun 16 18, 6:53 AM |

Due to problems with my laptop charger, I won’t be able to do live coverage for the time being. I will still post a review later today. Pray for me! Reply #92. Jun 16 18, 7:01 AM |

Disappointed with France, expected much more from them.....in the end the real difference between the two teams was Paul Pogba! Reply #93. Jun 16 18, 7:17 AM |

Peru misses a penalty! What a shame! VAR helped here too. Lots of penalties today Reply #94. Jun 16 18, 10:58 AM |

Two years ago, on a legitimate Snow Day, I sat down with a fire and hours and hours to watch a Premiere League... something, determined I could and would figure all this out. I posted about it on our Team MB under our Sports Report thread, and one of our teammates very graciously explained this most head-scratching game I have ever attempted to understand, and since I save everything just in case we might need it again, I found her "Rules of Futbol," read them all over again, and laughed just as hard as I did the first time! And then I stickied the thread so we can all figure it out, all over again. I think I also posted in here somewhere about not understanding this game or match or whatever it is, at all, and I think someone like maybe Brian wrote his own explanation. When I put them together, I was ready to jump off the roof. I think Flopsy may have then added her two cents' worth, too, and I was drooling in the corner! I understand and love all sports, but this one, I just do not get. Let me know if you would like to see these rules explained like no one ever has before, and I will be happy to paste them in here for you. Brian and Flopsy, if you remember this, maybe you can find and direct me to your "Rules of Futbol" too? If you do understand this... I cannot for the life of me figure out how YOU figured it out, but so far, her rules as she laid them out for me are spot on. They still make zero sense, though. This has to be the most complicated game in the world. Reply #95. Jun 16 18, 12:36 PM |

Nah. It's simple. Basically two teams kick a football. Each team is trying to score a goal in the other team's net. Reply #96. Jun 16 18, 12:53 PM |

So it looks like I'm getting no credit for post #80 and pointing out Iceland may not be the walkover that everyone is expecting. Iceland is big and physical. Argentina is small and technical. 1-1 Reply #98. Jun 16 18, 1:31 PM |

Hey Blackdresss... And now and then, the referee asks a player to guess which card he's holding and if he gets it wrong, he's sent off. Seriously...it's not even a remotely complicated game and you won't understand it just by watching one Premier League game and reading a rule book. In fact, reading a rule book would only make it more confusing for you. Think of it as ice hockey without the ice. Or the sticks. And on a bigger playing field. And with a ball instead of a puck. And with slight variations in the rules. Which you'll notice if you watch more than one game. Enjoy! Reply #99. Jun 16 18, 3:17 PM |

I'm giving you a little credit Mark, but not too much because I thought the same. I still think Argentina are going to get things together and go far. Just a Messi penalty away from winning today. Reply #100. Jun 16 18, 4:27 PM |
