Answer:
Dune
"DUNE" is based on an intricate imaginary society set in the year 10,191, where humans have left the Earth and have colonized other planets. Duke Leto, of the House of Atreides is sent to colonize Arrakis, a desert planet with large amounts of melange, a very valuable spice drug, popular with the wealthy. Once the Duke arrives to Arrakis with the Atreides, he has to protect the planet from a takeover by the men of Baron Harkonnen. Duke Leto's plan is to recruit the Fremen, who are natives to Arrakis to help him fight the battle against the Harkonnens. Harkonnen manages to beat Duke Leto, by killing him and his men. The only hope for the planet is set on Leto's mistress Jessica and her son Paul, who flee into the desert and finally end up finding the Fremen. Paul manages to unite the Fremen, forming an army and finally defeating Harkonnen.
When "Dune" was finally released it was written and directed by David Lynch. Previously there had been several failed attempts in producing the film as the rights had been acquired by other directors and producers, such as Dino de Laurentiis. The film was shot entirely in Mexico on the Samalayuca Dunes, with a budget of 40 million dollars. Most of the critics gave it a negative review, and it ended up with a poor commercial reception, all sequels that had been intended were cancelled.
