He told them if they guessed it he would give them several fine coats, but if they didn't guess it they would have to pay him. The Philistines threatened Samson's wife and she told them the answer to Samson's riddle. Samson was so mad he left the party and his wife. The Philistines gave his wife to another man. Samson was treated very badly by the Philistines and wanted revenge. He captured three hundred foxes and set their tails on fire. Samson made the Philistines so angry the Israelites were afraid. They told Samson they had to tie him up and give him to the Philistines as a prisoner. When the Philistines came, the Spirit of God came upon him. He broke the ropes and grabbed the first thing he found, the jawbone of a donkey. With the donkey's bone Samson killed one thousand Philistines.

Afterwards God provided water for him to drink. (Judges 15:9-20)

He told her if she tied him up with bowstrings, he would be helpless. Delilah did, but when the Philistines came to capture Samson, He broke the bowstrings and attacked them.

Samson told Delilah if she tied him up with new ropes, he would be weak and unable to defend himself. Delilah did, but when the Philistines came, Samson snapped the ropes like string. He won again.

Samson told Delilah if she wove his hair into a loom (which was an object used to make cloth and rugs), he would be weak. Delilah did. When the Philistines came Samson broke the loom and fought the Philistines again.

Delilah was very angry! (Judges 16:6-16)

Samson told Delilah that he had kept a vow to God to never cut his hair. It was a symbol that he was dedicated to God. God honored that vow by giving him strength.

When Samson went to sleep, Delilah took out her scissors and cut his hair. When the Philistines arrived to capture Samson, Samson got up to fight them but his strength was gone. God did not help him because Samson's vow had been broken.

The Philistines took Samson and made him blind. Then they made Samson work in their prisons grinding wheat. Samson was powerless. (Judges 16:15-22)

Samson was humiliated and treated very badly during the party. The Philistines made fun of him and mocked God.

Samson cried to God and asked God to give him strength one more time. He prayed, "Dear God, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes."

God listened. (Judges 16:23-28)

Samson was blind, but during the party he asked to be led to where the temple pillars were. With his last breath he prayed for God to let him die with the Philistines. He pushed the pillars over and the temple collapsed, killing everyone there.

After Samson died, his family came and buried him. Samson killed more Philistines the night he died than he did in his entire life. (Judges 16:24-31)
