I have never heard Maire pronounced like Myra. It's more like "MAH-yeh." Here are three native Irish speakers pronouncing the name:

I think the reason for the different pronunciations given in the answers is that there are different dialects in Irish. I came across this video on pronouncing Irish girl names and it conforms to my original notion of the pronunciation as Maura.
