Blood is about 3 to 5 times thicker than water.

According to a chat room discussion and an article I encountered, the viscosity of blood is, on average, four times that of water:

Viscosity :Water-1.002 cP
Blood-3.6-6.5 cP
It depends on temperature.
Increased viscosity in blood may also play a part in the pathogenesis of coronary heart disease.
