Answer: Baltimore

The 2007 film, "Hairspray", is a remake of John Waters' 1988 film of the same name. Set in Maryland's largest city, Baltimore, the film follows the loveable, plump Tracy Turnblad, whose dream it is to become a famous dancer. The film opens with an upbeat number named "Good Morning Baltimore", which shows Tracy at her bubbly best, bursting into song and eager to start the day ahead.

Answer: I Can Wait

"I Can Wait" was recorded and filmed by Nikki Blonsky, but was ultimately cut as it was decided that, after the change of pace in "Timeless To Me" and "I Know Where I've Been", the movie needed to get the the high energy of the final scene. Had it been included in the film it would have taken place while Tracy is locked up in the Pingleton's bomb shelter. The scene can be found on the two disk "Shake and Shimmy" edition of the film.

The other three songs were recorded as demos but ultimately were not used in the film. Both "Save Your Applause 'Til The End" and "Mrs. Von Tussle Says" were written for the character of Velma Von Tussle who was played in the film by Michelle Pfeffier. Both songs were played for Michelle but she said that she'd signed up to play "Miss Baltimore Crabs" and that it was the basis of her entire character, so the original song stayed. "It Ain't Over 'Til The Fat Lady Sings" was a song written for the character of Tracy. It was supposed to occur before "You Can't Stop The Beat" but it was later decided that 'beat' was enough. These songs were never recorded by the film actors but the demos can be heard on the collectors edition soundtrack.

She is quite strict and tells Tracy off for having her hair too big.

'Ladies Choice' is a song that Link Larkin (portrayed by Zac Efron) performs. It was written especially for this film to recreate a genuine 60s dance hop. Zac Efron has said that this was one of his favourite scenes to film, as it was truly like being back in the 60s!

"Good Morning Baltimore" plays as Tracy Turnblad, the main character, wakes up and gets ready for school. The song plays until she gets to school and hears the bell ring. This is a good introductory song because it introduces the viewer to the main character, Tracy Turnblad, and her carefree, fun-loving personality.

She was a big fan of "The Corny Collins Show", and she tried to make a difference with the black and white situation. She was a little on the heavy side. Mrs. Von Tussle was not happy with Tracy, and she tried very hard to get her off of the show.

Mr. Pinky is the owner of Mr. Pinky's Hefty Hideaway. He calls Tracy and asks her to be his spokesgirl. Tracy and her mother visit and get new dresses during the song "Welcome to the 60s".

"The Corny Collins Show" is hosted by none other than Corny Collins himself, (played by James Marsden), who also has a group of teenage singers and dancers to support him. When introducing these characters on the show, the song, "The Nicest Kids in Town" is sung, leading up to the introduction of these council members, whose names are then listed, as they are introduced to the camera.

Penny tells Tracy her mother says that she is not allowed to perspire. Penny's mother is very strict, and Penny often disobeys her.

John Waters was the director in the original version of the film. He starred as "the flasher who lives next door" in this version. Christopher Walken played Wilbur Turnblad.

Brenda is played by Cassie Silva. She is a council member on 'The Corny Collins Show'. She is going to be absent for nine months, so there is a vacancy on the show. This is how Tracy decides to audition. Since she is going to be absent for nine months, the viewers are made to think that she is pregnant. Brenda has black hair and, like the rest of the female council members, is seen wearing dresses.

Link is the last one to say his name. Amber is the first because she had been crowned Ms. Teenage Hairspray the year before. Amber is Link's girlfriend, and will do anything to keep him to herself. Her mother, Velda von Tussle, is the producer of "The Corny Collins Show" and together, they try to keep Tracy from making it onto the show.

Penny Pingleton was her best friend in the movie because she was always helping her and was always backing her up and supporting her. During the movie she also had a sucker in her mouth most of the time and was very funny.

Determined to seize this rare opportunity, Tracy skips school in order to audition, only to have her hopes dashed by the obnoxious Velma Von Tassle. For the vindictive Velma tells Tracy bluntly that her size is an issue, as is her support of integration, and so she is rejected, Later on in detention, which is Tracy's punishment for skipping school, she meets Seaweed, who performs on "The Corny Collins Show" on "Negro Day". He and his friends are all wonderful dancers, and soon enough Tracy is dancing alongside them, impressing them with her moves.

Jerry Stiller played the role of Arthur Spooner, between 1998 and 2007, in the television comedy "The King Of Queens" as well as roles in "The Heartbreak Kid" (2007), "Zoolander" (2001) and "Seinfeld" (1993 - 1998).

Actor Billy Crystal and Jim Broadbent were both considered for the role of Wilbur in this film before it went to Christopher Walken.

Wilbur Turnbald is the father of Tracy and the husband of Edna. It is Wilbur who encourages and supports Tracy in her dream to become a dancer on the Corney Collins show. He is also the owner of a joke shop.

After Tracy says this, her mom says that she believes that her hair is naturally stiff. Edna and Tracy are having an argument over Tracy auditioning for "The Corny Collins Show".

Edna has a fear of leaving the house and being in large crowds. This fear is called "agoraphobia". When Tracy convinces her mom to be her manager, they go to Mr Pinky's store and Edna gets over her fear.

This song is played when the auditionees audition for the vacancy on the show.

Tracy is sent to detention many times throughout the show. One time is because of her "inappropriate hair height" and another is because Amber leads the teacher to believe Tracy is acting out in class. Her first time in detention, she sees Seaweed dancing and begins to join in. They become fast friends, and Seaweed convinces Tracy to do the dance that gets her noticed during Negro Day of "The Corny Collins Show".
