Answer: Penny Pingleton

Penny Pingleton, (played by Amanda Bynes), is Tracy's best friend, and is never far from her side. Usually seen sucking on a lollipop, Penny is a sheltered girl, who is controlled by her overbearing mother, Prudy, who dislikes Tracy, and thinks of her as a bad influence on her daughter. It is as a result of her friendship with Tracy that Penny meets Seaweed, who is the son of "The Corny Collins Show's" "Negro Day" host, Motormouth Maybelle. The pair are instantly attracted to each other, and, in spite of the ignorance they know they will face, they start a relationship.

Both Edna and Mothermouth Maybelle wear a red and gold dress during this song, which is the last in the film. However, Edna's is red with gold tassle and sequins while Mothermouth Maybelle's is gold with red fur around the sleeves and hem.

She was Motormouth Maybelle's daughter. Link Larkin pulled her out onto the dance floor, and then he left her and she danced by herself. She didn't have a big role in the movie, but she did mostly in the end. She wasn't always in the scenes with her mother, but she was in a few of them.

This song is sung during the scene where Tracy auditions for the show. This song is recalling Mrs. Von Tussle's former pageant days, and how she always won. One title she won, was "Miss Baltimore Crabs", hence the title of the song.

Midway through the film, Velma Von Tussle sets out to seduce Tracy's father, in an attempt to cause chaos in the Turnblad household. Her aim is to get Edna to ban her daughter from appearing on "The Corny Collins Show", which will then ensure that Velma's own daughter, Amber, secures the coveted title of Miss Teenage Hairspray. Though Wilbur, (Tracy's father), is oblivious to Velma's outrageous flirting, the latter gets lucky when Edna walks in on them unexpectedly. Seizing her opportunity, Velma grabs a stunned Wilbur, thus giving the impression that they have been caught in an illicit clinch.

Velma is seen with her cat just before the song "Big, Blonde and Beautiful". The cat has two different coloured eyes - one is blue and the other is brown or red.

Madonna and Meryl Streep were considered for the role of Velma which is played by Michelle Pfeiffer. Michelle Pfeiffer appeared in the "Grease 2" to sequel to "Grease" which starred John Travolta.

This is the first line to the song, 'Welcome To The Sixties', which is performed by Tracy, Edna Turnblad and The Dynamites. This song is about Edna realising the world. During the song, Edna and Tracy go to 'Mr. Pinky's Hefty Hideaway'. This is the shop belonging to Mr. Pinky, who wants Tracy to be their spokeswoman. Whilst in the shop, Tracy and Edna get treated to new clothes.

'The New Girl in Town' is the soundtrack for the montage that follows Tracy's appointment to Council member on 'The Corny Collins Show'. It shows her increasing popularity, Velma's displeasure at Tracy's growing fan unit and Wilbur Turnblad selling merchandise with Tracy's face on it.
