The Warriors topped the minor premiership in 2002, before going down to the Roosters in the Grand Final.

Yep, they changed their name in 2000. But in 2002 they changed it back to Cronulla Sharks.

Paul Vautin, a former professional rugby league footballer, played for the Manly-Warringah team during his career. Vautin played for Manly's first-grade team from 1979 to 1989, serving as captain from 1983 to 1989. During his tenure with the team, Manly-Warringah won two premierships in 1987 and 1988. In addition to his club career, Vautin also played for the Australian national team and represented the country in 22 test matches from 1982 to 1988. Following his playing career, Vautin went on to become a successful coach and television personality.

The Illawarra Steelers joined competition in 1982. They merged with the StGeorge Dragons in 1999 to form the StGeorge-Illawarra Dragons. Their colours were Scarlet and White.

John Cartwright was the first coach of the Titans. He was a former Penrith player (1985) who became assistant coach at Penrith after he retired. He was assistant coach at the Roosters when he was appointed the inaugural coach of the Gold Coast Titans.

In round 5, the Titans game against the Broncos was classed as a home game for the Titans, even though Suncorp Stadium was the Broncos home turf. The Broncos got really fired up from the Titans taking the home dressing shed.

The Broncos were at first considering a logo with Q for Queensland and a Kangaroo - but as the Australian international tema is known as "The Kangaroos" they opted for Broncos after discounting names like galahs, possums, kookaburras (the international men's hockey team name) and brumbies (the ACT Rugby Union team name).

Their first Grand Final in 2005, they lost to the West Tigers, with the first try scored by Matty Bowen.

Rickey Stuart, who became the 2002 Premiership coach for the Roosters after retiring, kicked the field goal from over 45 metres out, much to the dismay of the Rabbits' fans present.

This only lasted for one season because many fans did not support the move. They had shared the undercover stadium (it had a roof to keep out Melbourne's nasty weather) with the AFL's Essendon Bombers.

He did this in 2002 when the Warriors lost to the Sydney Roosters 30-8. He played with Hunter Mariners in 1997, Melbourne in 1998, Balmain in 1999, Wests Tigers in 2000 and 2001, and joined the NZ Warriors in 2002.

Big Gordie made his debut as a replacement for Balmain in 1992.

Mal Meninga played for the Canberra Raiders during his rugby league career. He began playing for the team in 1986 and became known as one of the club's greatest ever players. During his time with the Raiders, Meninga won three premierships and became the all-time top try scorer for the team. He played for the Raiders for five seasons before retiring in 1991. Meninga then became a coach and went on to lead the Queensland Maroons to eight State of Origin series victories in a row. He also coached the Australian national team and led them to win the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. Meninga is considered one of the greatest players and coaches in rugby league history.

The bunnies joined the competition in 1908 as a foundation member of the NSWRL. They left at the end of the 1999 season. Their colours are Red and Green. They were re-admitted to the NRL in 2002.

This was against the Parramatta Eels. They won this game 38-12. This was a home game, with an attendance of over 18,000 people.

Formerly known as Auckland Warriors, the Auckland NZ based team joined the Australian National competition in 1995 after years of playing in lesser competitions such as the Australian Rugby League's "Amco Cup" midweek competition.

Johnathan Thurston from the NQ Cowboys won the Dally M Player of the Year in 2005, one point ahead of Andrew Johns who came runner-up.

He played for Gold Coast from 1993 to 1995, St George in 1996, Adelaide Rams in 1997, Brisbane from 1998 to 2000, New Zealand Warriors from 2001 to 2002, and joined North Queensland in 2003. South Queensland became defunct at the end of the 1997 season. He also played a handful of State-of-Origin games for Queensland.
