Gene Miles played for the Brisbane team in the NRL. He was a forward and played for the team in the 80s and early 90s. Miles was known for his strength and skill on the field, which helped him to become one of the most successful players in the Brisbane Broncos history. His achievements include Premiership wins and representing Queensland in State of Origin matches. His career with Brisbane spanned over 8 years, during which he helped the team achieve some of their biggest wins. Miles is seen as a legendary player in the NRL and his contribution to the sport will always be remembered.

Being an "outsider" to the mainly Sydney-based rugby league competition, the team adopted the name "Raiders" when they joined as the 14th competition team in 1982. That year they took the wooden spoon finishing 14th and it wasn't until their 8th season in 1989 that they won a Grand Final.

The Sea Eagles beat the Cowboys in the match to decide who competed in the Grand Final. The Cowboys had won all their finals matches up until the heart breaker game against Manly.

The Parramatta game was of special significance to South's fans as it was the proud clubs last game before being kicked from the comp. South's fans were appalled though at Parramatta's decision to promote it as such, considering the final announcement had not yet been made that South's were not in the 2000 comp.

Scott Sattler debut for the Gold Coast Chargers in 1992.

Steve Rogers was part of the Cronulla-Sutherland team during his rugby league career. He joined the team in 1973 and went on to captain them for six seasons. Rogers was known for his attacking skills, speed, and strength on the field. Under his leadership, Cronulla-Sutherland made it into the Grand Final for the first time in their history in 1973. Rogers went on to play for the Australian national team as well, earning him a reputation as one of the best centers in the sport. He was inducted into the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame in 2006 for his contribution to the sport.
