Lucas Tanner is a character played by David Hartman in the American series "Lucas Tanner". The series only ran for one year between 1974 and 1975. There were 22 episodes in the series.

Lucas Tanner, once a baseball player and sports journalist, takes on the role of an English teacher at the fictional Harry S. Truman Memorial High School located in Webster Groves, Missouri, a suburb of St Louis. He switched careers after his wife and child died in a car accident. The programme follows his use of unorthodox methods to engage with students, which creates tension with the conventional, traditional teachers.

Rosemary Murphy portrayed Margaret Blumenthal, the high school principal who worked with the main character, teacher Lucas Tanner. Robbie Rist played Glendon Farrell, the young neighbour living next door to Lucas Tanner. Terry Klitsner portrayed John Randolph when he took on the role of Principal after Rosemary Murphy left the series.
