When Opie joins a club called the "Wildcats", they hold their meetings in Jubal Foster's barn. Jubal chases the kids off and recognizes Opie. When Jubal talks to Andy, he claims that Opie is one of the trespassers. When Jubal is checking on his still in the barn, he knocks over a lantern and the barn burns down. Jubal then blames Opie and his friends. When Andy finds a used candle and matches in Opie's room, he decides to pay for Jubal's damages. While Andy and Barney are talking to Jubal, Barney takes a drink of water from a barrel in Jubal's shed. It turns out that the barrel contains moonshine and Andy then figures out why the barn caught fire so quickly. Difficulty: Easy.

When a special agent for the FBI comes to town, he says he is there to present an award to the town of Mayberry for being the most crime-free city in the country. The agent's associate is a reporter and photographer. Outside the courthouse, the agent has his photo taken with the Mayor. While giving out the award, the agent's accomplice tries to rob the bank and is caught by Andy. Andy tells Barney that he became suspicious when the agent agreed to have his picture taken and that special agents for the FBI don't allow themselves to be photographed. Difficulty: Average.

When Otis's brother comes to town, Andy makes Otis a deputy for a while so Otis can impress his brother. When Otis and Andy go to Otis's house to show Otis's wife how he looks in his uniform, his wife asks Andy if Otis has to obey all the laws. When Andy says yes, Otis's wife demands that Otis produce the booze that he is hiding in the house. Otis is then forced to show his hiding place, take out the booze, and then pour it down the sink. Difficulty: Easy.

In this episode, Andy intentionally lets an escaped criminal overhear that he has a rowboat down at the lake. Of course he knew that his boat had a bad leak and would sink when the convict tried to make his getaway using old Gertrude. After the boat sank with the convict aboard, he was captured without a fight. Difficulty: Hard.

In "A Date For Gomer", the group has trouble finding any kind of activities that Lydia enjoys.
Difficulty: Hard.

Almost everyone in Mayberry started to believe that Henry Bennett was a jinx. To nip that in the bud, sheriff Andy Taylor decided to take Henry along with him and deputy Barney Fife fishing in the opening day fishing sweepstakes. Unfortunately, the boat sank and the blame went to Henry. In order for Barney to protect against Henry the jinx, he recited a couple of things. One was "Protection from a Man with a Hex, said while reaching your right arm over your head and touching your left earlobe with your eyes closed": "Wink'um pink'um, nodamus rex, protect us all, from the man with the hex."
Another was: "Fly away buzzard, fly away crow, way down South where the winds don't blow. Rub your nose, and give two winks,and save us from this awful jinx."
Of course there was a happy ending and everyone decided that Henry Bennett was not a jinx after all.

In "Convicts-at-Large", Floyd is more concerned about his burger cooking than being held hostage by escaped female prisoners. Difficulty: Hard.

In "The Pickle Story", Barney has to make up a fictional trip when he is caught trying to dispose of the "kerosene" pickles. Difficulty: Average.

In "The Guitar Player", bandleader Bobby Fleet doesn't have a very high opinion of the metropolis of Mayberry. Difficulty: Hard.

Opie got up extra early to make breakfast for his pa in an effort to show him that the two bachelors could get along fine without Aunt Bee. The only housekeeper Opie had ever known, Rose, had gotten married and gone to live with her new husband. Opie was devastated and vowed he wouldn't love no one 'sides Rose and didn't want any other woman in their lives. So he ended up cooking the eggs for 45 minutes (adding water several times because it kept boiling away) until Andy finally awoke and found Opie in the kitchen. Difficulty: Hard.

In the episode, Opie accidentally kills a mother song bird with his slingshot and has to raise her babies. Difficulty: Hard.

Once described by Barney as "kerosene cucumbers", Aunt Bee's pickles are the topic of one of Season Two's most popular episodes. Too polite to tell her the truth, Andy, Opie and Barney plot to substitute them for store bought, only to learn that she plans to enter them in the county fair. After losing the blue ribbon to her friend Clara for the twelfth straight year, Aunt Bee decides that the only thing that matters is that her family loves them. She then rewards the guys with a double batch!

"The Pickle Story" originally aired on December 18, 1961. Difficulty: Easy.

When Barney comes in with the test results, Andy says "85 percent alcohol! No wonder she was feeling no pain." Barney then wants to run the Colonel out of town for selling straight liquor. Difficulty: Hard.

In the episode "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs" Barney asks Otis to take home the dogs so they will be out of the court house before the state inspector arrives. Barney thinks that the state inspector will think that they need additional funds to pay for dog food. Difficulty: Very Easy.

Silent Night, Jingle Bells, O Holy Night

The Darling family was made up of the patriarch, widower Briscoe Darling (played by Denver Pyle), his four sons and his daughter Charlene. The four sons were actually members of the talented bluegrass group The Dillards. Charlene was played by actress Maggie Peterson. The family first appears on "The Andy Griffith Show" in 1963 in the "Darlings Are Coming" episode. The singing family appears in about a half a dozen other episodes last appearing in a 1966 show where the family comes to town looking for brides for the boys. For many years this group was favorites at "The Andy Griffith Show" Festival held in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. Difficulty: Very Easy.

When Opie didn't win, he got mad and was a sore loser. Andy was very disappointed in him. Difficulty: Hard.

Jeff becomes very persistent in his quest for Thelma Lou, so Andy is forced to step in a hatch a plan to get rid of him. Difficulty: Hard.

When Helen first came to town, Barney didn't think she was the girl for Andy because she revealed that she couldn't cook. Barney said "You mean you don't know how to cook leg of lamb... Andy's favorite dish?" Difficulty: Hard.

When Clara Edwards can't be in the pageant playing the part of Lady Mayberry, Aunt Bee is asked to take the part. The problem is that Bee not a good actress. When the director tells Andy that he has to tell Bee that they need someone else for the part, Andy doesn't have the heart to do so. Clara returns early from her trip and finds that Bee got the part and is happy for her. Andy then comes up with a plan to have Clara come over and cook for him and Opie while Bee goes to practice for her part. When Clara shows up to take care of Andy and Opie, Bee becomes jealous and gives the part back to Clara. Difficulty: Easy.

When Opie finishes last in a track race, he is a poor sport and doesn't congratulate the winners of the races. When Andy asks Opie why, Opie says that they are not his friends because they took his medal. Andy tells Opie that if that's the way he feels about it, he's very disappointed in him. Opie later apologizes for his actions. Difficulty: Easy.

When Opie meets an electrical lineman named Mr. McBeevee working on wires in the woods, he befriends him and tells Andy and Barney about him. By Opie's description of him, Andy thinks that Mr. McBeevee is just an imaginary friend. When Opie shows Andy an axe that Mr. McBeevee gave him, Andy, thinking that Opie may have stolen the axe, makes him take it back. When Opie returns with a quarter that McBeevee gave him, Andy demands that Opie stop telling him that it came from his imaginary friend or he will be punished. Andy decides to believe Opie and then finds Mr. McBeevee in the woods where Opie said he would be. Difficulty: Average.

In the episode "The Pickle Story", Aunt Bee makes a batch of pickles and they are so bad that Andy and Barney switch them out for store bought pickles. When Aunt Bee decides to enter the pickles in a contest, Andy, Barney, and Opie have to eat all the store pickles before Aunt Bee can enter them into the contest. Aunt Bee then makes another batch for the contest and they are so bad that the judges think they are made with kerosene. Difficulty: Easy.

Wilber (Wilbur) Finch was a shoe salesman who came through Mayberry. Aunt Bee and her gossipy friends planted a seed that Wilber was actually a Hollywood talent scout to show that the men gossiped as much as the women. She was right. By the end of the day, Wilber broke the sales record for most shoes sold in a day by anyone from the Manhattan Shoe Company. All day long, the men brought in their sons and daughters to audition for Wilber, and in the process, they bought a lot of shoes too. They thought Wilber was only pretending to be a shoe salesman to hide his identity as a talent scout. Difficulty: Hard.

In "Barney's Sidecar", Aunt Bee gets just a LITTLE carried away with her frustration about Barney's motorcycle activities.

"All Souls Church" was also called "Community Church" by Mayberry residents. It was a Protestant church that was basically non-denominational. It was small, holding only about 40 people and was full every Sunday. The pastor was Reverend Hobart M. Tucker. For whatever reason, they sometimes called him Reverend Martin.
"The Andy Griffith Show" would sometimes change the names of characters and use the same actor in several different roles.
There was a choir at the church that Aunt Bee was part of. Clara Edwards was the organist and also directed the choir. Difficulty: Hard.

The incorrect report card was due to Mrs. Crump's error, not a lie by Opie. Opie was actually saving his money to buy his girlfriend a much-needed coat. And Jubal's moonshine business started the fire. ("Jubal, Jubal, Jubal!")

In "The Farmer Takes A Wife", Jeff Pruitt has to be stopped from "picking up girls"... literally! Difficulty: Hard.

After raising the birds for some time, Opie tells his father that the baby birds need a bigger cage so they can have more room. Andy tells Opie that he is right, but the birds need a lot of space and hints to Opie that they should be set free. Difficulty: Hard.

Otis's love for whiskey is tolerated by town citizens because of his amiable personality and cheerful demeanor. He is a frequent guest at the jail, usually wandering in on his own to sleep off his drunkenness before returning home to his wife. During his periods of incarceration, Otis enjoys home cooked meals (courtesy of Aunt Bee) and is sometimes the subject of Barney's experiments in rehabilitation.

Hal Smith, the talented and versatile actor who portrayed Otis, died in 1994 at the age of 77.

In the episode "The Great Filling Station Robbery", Barney sets up a camera to try and catch the person stealing from the gas station. However, he ends up taking a picture of himself in the process. Difficulty: Hard.
