Arroz y pollo (Rice and chicken) also called Arroz con pollo (rice with chicken), is a traditional Latin American dish. While many Latin American countries claim they are the birthplace of the tasty dish, most historians trace the dish back to the Moors who traded goods with Spain in the 700s.

Many of the ingredients in the dish like cumin, coriander and saffron, are known to be a part of Moorish culture before being introduced in Spain. Although recipes differ by region most recipes include chicken, rice, beer, chicken or vegetable stock, sofrito, along with the saffron, cumin and coriander to add spiciness to the dish.
