Author's Note: Lenny is from London in England, so his North American friends may be a bit puzzled on seeing some of the nicknames written down - there is a similar sound, but it isn't exactly the same - until they remember that Lenny doesn't sound the final 'R' at the end of a word. Lenny's helpful friend, Horace, from Hampstead, also has an English accent.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Lenny is from London in England, so his North American friends may be a bit puzzled on seeing some of the nicknames written down - there is a similar sound, but it isn't exactly the same - until they remember that Lenny doesn't sound the final 'R' at the end of a word. Lenny's helpful friend, Horace, from Hampstead, also has an English accent. Horace stood by the door and greeted everyone with a neigh and a whinny, before announcing their arrival to all and sundry. By the time the evening was over he would be a ___ ___ (6,5).

Answer: hoarse horse

Horace started the evening with a full voice, but he was in danger of becoming a hoarse horse after everyone had arrived. The first of those guests was Charles Douglas, the Chinese dog. As well as arriving on the dot, he is renowned for paying his debts promptly, too. So Lenny has dubbed him Sharp Pay the sharp-pei.
2. Lucy has left her home in Madagascar for the bright lights of the capital of Peru. Horace, in his London voice, let everyone know about the little lady's arrival "Ladies and gentlemen - the ___ ___ (4,5)."

Answer: Lima lemur

The Americans were only slightly confused as Horace announced 'The Lima lemur'. Lucy was accompanied by Callum, a spelunking rodent from the mountains near her new home in Peru. Horace, with a frown for Lenny's adjective, called out to tell everyone about the coming of the cavey cavy.

After being described as a giant, Lucy's elderly neighbour in Lima took to weighing all her food carefully before eating anything. Lenny was delighted to hear her called Aunty Tare, the anteater.
3. Penny, the bamboo eating animal from China, prefers people to be properly pleased. Politely, in his best British accent, Horace presented her by pronouncing "The ___ ___ (6,5)."

Answer: pander panda

The introduction of the pander panda was popular with the party-goers. However, the other guests were not so pleased to see Brenda, a black and white striped nocturnal animal. She is not very well-liked, given her insistence on pestering people persistently. Nevertheless, Horace boomed out his introduction to Brenda, the badger badger.
4. Charlie, the fast cat, is cheerfully expecting to play lots of games; he loves winning and will do anything to make sure he doesn't lose. Horace, in his charming London accent, chatters away to the ___ ___ (7,7).

Answer: cheater cheetah

Charlie, the cheater cheetah, was hoping for some prizes during the party. However, he realised that he stood no chance of winning one game when he heard Horace introduce a bovine who had exceptional skills with a particular set of balls as, 'Billy, the boules bull'.
5. Wendy is a most majestic mammal. Swimming solitarily in the sea for most of the time, she seldom meets her other friends. When she does, she gives them a long-winded account of all her worst woes. Wisely Horace whispered the welcome for the ___ ___ (4,5).

Answer: wail whale

At least Horace's whispered welcome for Wendy, the wail whale, would do a little to help save his voice from becoming hoarse. Unfortunately she was followed by Yolanda, a long haired ox from Tibet, who loves to talk about anything and everything. Suppressing a yawn, Horace yelled, "You will like to meet the yak yak!"
6. Nancy peeps nervously round the door. She's a little confused because her initial letters don't match in the same way as other people's. It's the first time she's come by herself: she always used to be accompanied by her father, the old wildebeest. Naturally Horace notes the newcomer as the ___ ___ (3,3).

Answer: new gnu

Nancy, the new gnu, was very pleased to find that Horace had just finished presenting Penelope the pronghorn, to the assembled company. She was well known to Nancy and her father, Owen William, and given to galloping everywhere. Lenny had been delighted to find that Nancy had dubbed her friend Aunty Lope, the antelope.
7. Guy is a primate with a penchant for underground warfare. Gutsily, Horace told the assembled guests about the grand entry of the ___ ___ (9,7).

Answer: guerrilla gorilla

Guy, the guerrilla gorilla, was followed by two pachyderm pals, although they are not as belligerent as Guy. However, Ronnie and Reggie often indulge in a spot of play-fighting with the result that they have some bent facial features because their horns get in the way. Horace roared "Ready, folks! Here are the wry nose rhinos!"
8. Linda is a wildcat who loves playing golf, in fact she's rarely to be found away from her favourite course by the sea. Horace loudly proclaimed, "Lords and ladies, let's hear it for the ___ ___ (5,4)!"

Answer: links lynx

Linda, the links lynx, is followed by Tommy, who is a big cat from the north of Siberia. Horace, in London tones, told everybody about the arrival of the Taiga tiger. Following closely behind Tommy was Sheena, an unusually tall spotted scavenger, known to her friend, Lenny, as high Ena, the hyena.
9. Arriving from North America is grizzly Barry who went overboard with shaving and lost all his fur, Horace proclaimed, "Please welcome the ___ ___ (4,4)!"

Answer: bare bear

Barry, the bare bear, was accompanied by his friend and neighbout, Harry, who isn't a rabbit and lets his fur grow really long. Horace was pleased to announce a rhyming pair, the bare bear and the hair hare. Sally is an aquatic mammal, a chilly mortal who also lives near the arctic, so she spent some time filling up all the gaps around the windows and doors to keep the draughts out. Horace said, "Here is the seal seal."
10. Maurice, the large deer from Canada, loves all sorts of sweet things: his absolute favourites are desserts made from cream, gelatine and eggs, often flavoured with chocolate. Horace mutters, "May I introduce the ___ ___ (6,5)?"

Answer: mousse moose

As his voice was starting to go, Horace muttered his introduction for Maurice, the mousse moose. Lenny had also sent an invitation to some rather smaller deer from the polar regions. Sadly, Santa had to decline the sleigh-pullers' invitation received at the North Pole. He looked at the weather forecast, and then told them, "I'm sorry, but it looks like rain, dear reindeer."
