Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Beyoncé
Answer: Ivy Park
Beyoncés activewear line also falls into the portmanteau fashion style called "athleisure", as her clothes are a sporty collection of sneakers, hoodies, sports bras, and sweats. She aimed to have them give off a fashion-forward, unique look. Examples include a unisex Organza Jacket, an Aop (All Over Print) Camo (camouflage print) Ruched (gathered fabric) Jumpsuit, Twill Suit, and red latex opera gloves.
The name "Ivy Park" has personal significance for Beyoncé who chose the label's name because it combines her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter's name with Parkwood Park, Houston near where Beyoncé was raised.
2. Gigi Hadid
Answer: Guest In Residence
Supermodel Gigi Hadid modelled designs by the biggest designers in the world such as Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Michael Kors, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Victoria's Secret. She decided to establish her own brand in 2022, called Guest In Residence, specializing in high-quality cashmere garments.
She called them "future heirlooms" because she intended them to be of such high production value that they can be handed down from generation to generation.
3. Gwyneth Paltrow
Answer: G. Label by Goop
Gwyneth Paltrow had already founded her beauty and wellness brand called Goop, and two years later, in 2016, she added a fashion collection to her brand. 4. Justin Bieber
Answer: Drew House
Pop-star Justin Bieber launched his fashion brand in 2019, naming it after his own middle name. It's not high fashion; it's streetwear matching what he's come to be known for wearing in his performances and in public. The line had hoodies, T-shirts, and sweatpants, coming in funky colors (sometimes with a smiley face logo).
The Drew House line would be sold, mostly, through the brand's official website.
5. Kim Kardashian
Answer: SKIMS
Shapewear is an undergarment design that accentuates the wearer's natural body shape by smoothing out bulges, and priding support for shapely figures and an attractive silhouette. The areas it targets include the waist, hips, thighs, and abdomen, and who better a celebrity than Kim Kardashian to launch her own line of shapewear.
Debuting in 2019, it took only four years for SKIMS to be valued at $3 billion. It also branched out into swimwear. SKIMS called itself a "solutions-oriented brand creating the next generation of underwear, loungewear and shapewear."
6. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
Answer: The Row
The "Full House" twins played the character Michelle Tanner on that sitcom. In 1999, they collaborated with Walmart on their first fashion line, when they were 13-years-old. Eight years later, they expanded into luxury fashion with their label called, The Row.
The sisters also established a fashion line called Elizabeth and James, named after their two younger siblings. A collection she introduced in 2014 for her fan base (affectionately called "Selenators") was a back-to-school clothing line.
10. Venus Williams
Answer: EleVen
