While the media had been speculating on a romance between Lindsay and Samantha by July 2008, after the two girls were seen together on numerous occasions, Lohan did not officially declare the friendship to be a romantic relationship until December 2008, in "Harper's Bazaar". The song is called "I Kissed A Girl" and comes from Katy Perry's 2008 album "One of the Boys". "I Kissed A Girl" became a catchy hit song in many places around the world, but it has been suppressed or banned in other areas, because of its lyrical content.

Some of the critics have been quoted as saying they don't have as much of a problem with the message of bisexuality that the song promotes, but rather the promiscuity that it promotes, with lines such as "I don't even know your name.

It doesn't matter, you're my experimental game" and "It felt so wrong, it felt so right, don't mean I'm in love tonight".

In "Wild Things", Kelly van Ryan (Denise Richards) and Suzie Toller (Neve Campbell) accuse their high school guidance counselor (Matt Dillon) of rape. The movie follows the trial and the aftermath, revealing a sordid set-up and master plan on the behalf of one of the main characters. A press release from the American Family Association, as posted on www.religioustolerance.org, cites the TV show "Relativity" as having the first lesbian scene on television, in 1997:

'...it was the lesbian scene, complete with caressing, nuzzling and passionate, open-mouthed kissing, that propelled network television where it has never gone before.' The AFA has condemned ABC television for allowing this show of affection on TV." The AFA also condemned a quick, shot-from-behind lesbian kiss on "Roseanne", in 1994, and accused the television industry of pushing "the homosexual agenda with increasing fervency".

t.A.T.u. is the name that Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova perform under. Being young lesbians was their major image, especially with in regards to their material that was released in North America. The music video for "All the Things She Said", for example, features the two girls kissing in front of a large crowd.

Much Music named it number 4 on their "50 Most Controversial Videos" list, and in the UK, television presenters Richard and Judy attempted to have the video banned because they felt that a video featuring teenage girls in school uniforms kissing catered to paedophiles.

In the 2003 film "Anatomy of t.A.T.u", it was said that the lesbian image was just that, an image, and the girls were not, in fact, lesbians. In 2008, in an interview with "The Independent", the girls themselves said that the lesbian image came out of their confused teen years when they experimented with each other and thought they were in love, but they later realized they were not.
