Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tail
A cat wagging his tail means that he angry, or impatient. A cat with his tail straight up means he is in a friendly mood and wants to play. A curved, bristling tail indicates anger or fright.
2. Back paw
The back legs of a cat enable him to jump high up because they absorb more energy and shock than front legs. The back limbs also bear more of the cat's body weight than the fore limbs do.
3. Ear
Cats are highly sensitive to loud noises. One ear can move without causing the other ear to move. This way, cat can move his ears one way while his body is facing another way. The majority of cats have straight, pointy ears, though the Scottish Fold breed is an exception. When cats are angry or frightened, they lay their ears back.
4. Nose
Cats are very territorial creatures, which means the scents of other cats play a big role in a cat's life. A cat's sense of smell is believed to be fourteen times better than a human's. The color of a cat's nose can be different than his skin color because a different gene than the skin color gene determines the nose color.
5. Genitals
Male cat genitals (pictured in label photo) are simple: two testicles and a penis. Like all other creatures, female cat genitals are more complex: a uterus, two ovaries, a vagina, and teats. When cats mate, a male fertilizes a female's eggs. After doing this once, the female cleans herself and can mate again with a different cat, resulting in a litter with multiple different fathers.
6. Front paw
Cats walk on their toes, meaning they're digitigrades. An advantage of being a digitigrade is being more agile. Cats have soft paw pads and tufts of hair sticking out from between their toes. Having these features helps them stalk prey quietly.
7. Stomach
The stomach of a cat is his most vulnerable area. Cats will get angry if someone tries to touch their stomach by force. When a cat shows you his stomach and lets you pet it, it means he is familiar with you and trusts you.
8. Eye
Cats have reflective layers in their eyes, giving off that glow-in-the-dark effect. Accord to studies, cats only need 1/6 of the light humans need to see. Even though cats can see in the dark, they are nearsighted animals.
9. Claw
When a cat's claws are not in use, they're tucked between tufts of fur and the paw pads in order to keep them from wearing down quickly. Cats use their claws for hunting, self defense, and climbing.
10. Skull
The skull of a cat has large eye sockets and uniquely strong jaws. The canine teeth of a cat are narrowly spaced, to go in accordance with their primary diet of small rodents.
