Answer: Chalet School

The "Chalet School" series was written by Elinor M. Brent-Dyer between 1925 and 1969. It is one of the longest series of girls' school stories, and still has many fans around the world. Joey Bettany is one of the school's first pupils when her sister opens it in a small chalet in the Austrian Tyrol between the wars. The school moves from Austria to England, on to Wales and then back to the Alps, but in Switzerland. Polly is a pupil in the Tyrol, Annis joins the school in Wales and Jane appears towards the end of the series. Miss Leslie teaches in Austria and Miss Bertram in Switzerland.

The other schools are also creations of EBD.

Braemar House is the school favoured by Monica's father in "Monica Turns up Trumps"; subsequently many of the pupils join the Chalet School when Braemar House closes.
