When you rob, you steal, take something by force or by threat, or deprive someone of something that is theirs. You could rob someone of time, rob the cradle or rob someone of speech.
Rob is also a man's name, sometimes a shortened form of the name Robert or Robin.

As a piece of footwear, a boot covers not only the foot, but also part or all of the leg. Usually made out of leather or rubber, boots are used either for protection or style, although sometimes they serve both purposes at the same time.

Torn is the past tense of tear, meaning something has been rent or pulled apart. And, while the word torn most commonly refers to paper or cloth, you may have been told that someone had torn a ligament, or torn their hair out.
A country can be torn apart by war, a room can look torn apart after a frantic search, and you can feel torn when you are faced with a difficult decision.

A bunt is usually hit into the infield, not far from home plate. Quite often it is a sacrifice play, used to advance a runner already on base.
A bunt is also the middle section of a sail - where it is curved. There is also an aerobatic maneuver called a bunt, and there is a bunt that is a fungal disease of certain grasses.

A light to yellowish brown, the word tan can also refer to the process of 'tanning' leather, a chore that involves soaking leather in tanbark or tannin. You can get a tan by exposure to the sun. And you can tan someone's hide, meaning to give them a spanking.

Roots are formed when a seed germinates, usually growing downwards into the soil while the stem of the plant grows upwards. Not all roots are found underground though. Some plants, such as orchids, mangroves and common ivy have aerial roots - meaning that their roots are above the ground.

A boat is a vessel used to transport people or things, but the word boat can also be used as a verb. You can boat across the river, go boating, or be boated. You can also be in the same boat, miss the boat or rock the boat.
You might even be lucky enough to find a gravy boat on your table at holiday time!

When you toss something, it is usually done in a careless or irregular way. You might toss your shirt into the laundry basket or toss an empty cup into the trash. A decision might be made with the toss of a coin, or you could toss and turn all night.
