A television show called "Get Smart" first aired on NBC from September 18, 1965, until April 12, 1969. The malevolent Dr. Ratton built the humanoid robot Hymie, which bore Ratton's father's name.

It was a tongue-in-cheek program taking the mickey out of secret agent programs like James Bond. Hymie looked just like a normal man, but looks are deceiving. Underneath his clothes, he was installed with a massive amount of electrical circuitry, which made him very strong, and a computer-controlled brain that would analyse things at an incredible speed.

The plot centres around the organisation called "CONTROL" that is in conflict with their enemy called "KAOS.". Max Smart worked for "CONTROL," hence the name "Get Smart," and Hymie was part of the team.
